I am moving to Salt Lake City sometime around October and am trying to figure the best place to work. I am only going to be working weekends and holidays so that leaves me plenty of time to shred as much as possible.

Has anyone worked at any of the mountains out there? And if so what did you think?

So far I have talked to the directors of Snowbird, Solitude, and Park City. I am waiting for Brighton to get back to me.

Right off the bat I will say I didnt really like the director of Snowbird for a variety of reasons.. Mainly being he seemed a bit too stiff for me and wanted me to teach level 1s everyday, LOL. I guess some people have some serious seniority there.

I have however decided to buy a Mid Week Mon-Fri pass for Snowbird so I can ride there and get my shred on. So then basically whatever other mountain I work at I can get free tickets based on whatever system they use and get to ride another mountain every now and then.

Also, Has anyone ridden Solitude and what did you think about it? The director seemed like a nice guy which is super important to me because I probably had the greatest ski school director in the world and I cant go to any stuffy place.

Im also not so sure about Park City since Powdr corp is who bought Killington and part of the reason I am leaving. That and they are farthest away from SLC so even if Im only doing occasional days there it seems like a hike.

I have not ridden or worked there but, a couple of my fellow instructors at Mt. Hood Meadows have. From what I gather from them, Brighton is probably the more laid back atmosphere to work at. I guess the bird and Park City are pretty trendy and can be uptight from an employee point of view.

Sorry all I got is second hand info, but I thought I would toss out what I heard.

Do you want to teach to make money or to get another free pass? Park City and The Canyons will pay the most. I'd just get a job working at a restaurant in Park City, even at a crappy restaurant you'll pull at least $150 a night.

i had a friend who worked at brighton, and i personally would love to work there.
you get the free season pass and i think you're only required to teach 2 three-hour sessions per week or weekend. so that leaves you a lot of time to ride the mountain, and brighton has the best snow i think, especially now that milly has a high speed quad.
but if you want to work somewhere other than the mountain, you could get a job with backcountry.com and dogfunk.com
i worked there for about a month but it was too far of a drive for me.
they're flexible, only thing that sucks is every 3 sundays you have to work a 7 am to i think 4 pm, but they start you off at 9 an hour and you just pick and pack orders and the best part is after a month you get 1/2 off all the stuff you want, so thats something to check out too.
when you move out here hit me up and we should ride sometime, i got my season pass to brighton so yeah. good luck with the move and see you on the mountain!

So Im leaving for Utah in 2 weeks. Im gonna go to all the mountains and check them out to see what I think. Snowbird and Park City definitely wouldnt be chill places to work at. So I think Im gonna visit the directors at Solitude and Brighton to see what the deal is at those places.

Go for the Bird. PC is alright, but it doesn't have **** on Snowbird when it comes to sick, steep powder.
