I was looking at the Burton, and I thought the same thing. Only by me, it was like $500. No way was I gonna pay that much. Did the one you were looking at have IPOD controls on the sleeve?
Seems like most of the jackets I was interested in, at least had MP3 pockets.

i personally wouldn't pay that much for it, i could always put my ipod into the mp3 pocket and listen to it from there

I'm taking my ipod out for the first time. I don't I see the need in buying a jacket with a specific pocket for the Ipod.

the cool thing is that there are controls on the sleve and earphones in the hood, so thats more or less what u are paying for

Do0d I would pay anything for a jacket like that. As long as i have easy access to music while riding I don't care baout the price.

pish posh only 3k i don't ride with gear that costs less than 5k...
i wish i had money to throw around like that
You could also just buy the ipod inline remote that is 40 bucks, i'm prolly going to pick that up and a 4gig ipod mini
and by the way didn't burton orginally do a jacket with controls on the sleeve for sony MD players? Like almost 4 seasons ago i think.

Thats possible but md players werent all that popular. But I had mine and I loved it. Nothing beats my 60gb ipod though. It's too much music for me to listen to on the road though.

Too much music? No such thing. I admit, I felt overwhelmed by the 2000 songs I have on my iPod at first, but I started rating the songs, fixing up the genres, and making smartlists. Now, I get to hear the songs I like now as well as a gem or 2 from the college days (Toad the Wet Sprocket rules).

Don't worry I'm just bustin ya :)
I actually have almost 10,000 songs on my computer, takes up over 37 gigs. Only problem is I don't have an iPod...definately need to work on that.

Well.... I would have thousands more if I just ripped every CD I owned. But, I've been selective in adding songs to my collection. Nothing worse that having to skip through songs that you really don't enjoy but have just because you ripped the whole Reservoir Dogs CD and all you really wanted was Stuck in the Middle. Know what I mean?

haha, yeah, i know what ya mean. I kinda like having the randomness of a huge playlist though, if it comes up with something I'm not in the mood for I just hit the next button. And hey, there's more good songs on the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack than Stuck in the Middle!!! Magic Carpet Ride! Lime in da Coconut! :-D

i do that ALL the time, it kills the battery too. i'm trying to make some playlists of songs i prefer, but i'm alway so fickle it's hard

I do agree there are other good songs on the Reservoir CD... Just using it as an example. I didn't know that skipping songs could deplete the battery. But I can see how it would.

this new jacket from burton is gonna put the Ipod Jacket to shame. it comes out sometime this fall. it has bluetooth Tech, developed by Motorola built into the jacket. you can have your celly in one pocket, and you ipod, MP3, WMA, or whatever have you into another pocket. if your phone rings while your on the mountain, and your listening to music the music will mute and the jacket will answer your phone and you can talk. the earphones are built into the hood, and the mic into your upper part of the shin shield. when the conversation is over your phone hangs up and your music turns back up. retail da ta da 900 snaps. enjoy
