I was pretty much wondering if anyone had been to the 3 Valleys area or specifically Val Thorens in the last few years.
is it good to go to and is anyone going this year?
I'm going the week before Xmas with my uni snowsports club so let me know if you'll be in the area and meybe me and my hip flask will meet you on the slopes somewhere

I was in Meribel in Feb this year. Those, 3 resorts, Meribel, Courcheval and Val Thoren are all pretty good. Courcheval was the worst in my opinion just cos it is full of the rich folk on their prada ski's.

You can get a pass that will let you ride anywhere in the 3 valleys which is what we did.

I might be going back in Feb for a couple of weeks, but I might be going over to the US or Canada if we can find a good enough deal.

Val Tho is one of the best places in the alpes, has always the best snow conditions in the 3 valleys and is one of the few french ski-stations with a real nightlife.
The week before Christmas is the so-called Boarder Week - with some additional live concerts and some other promo events. So nightlife and party shouldn't be a great problem and if the concerts are real bull**** you can still go in a bar or club (Malaysia is always a good choice)

Week before Christmas should be good in Val T. The resort is ugly as sin but as it's about the most snow-sure you're going to get (besides Tignes) and the nightlife is ok.

For freeriding it's one of the best in europe (especially in april). I think you don't know the part of the resort that belongs to orelle.

The resort- as in the buildings. Both Les Arcs and Verbier are far superior for freeriding.

hey Grill, the buildings in LesArcs2000 are at least as ugly as the buildings in LesMenuires (ok, the most ugliest building is really in LesMenuires - looks like a aircraft-carrier that crashed in a mountain) and for the 4Vallees it isn't very different. Take a look at Nendaz/Siviez the buildings have the same flair.

The ski resorts are both very nice and Mont-Fort/Gele or AiguilleRouge are really nice places for freeriding. And I love these two spots, too.

Have you done the Grand Col down to Villaroger? 7km of uninterrupted powder. There's an amazing amount to do between the trees in Vallandry as well.

so i went to Val T, rode some in Menuires (sp?) and Meribel too was fuking awesome! best week ever! the nightlife was ok too but Malaysia was pretty poor lol
i didnt realise it was boarder week and we got free wristbands to get in everywhere for free and do everything (except skidoo which i did anyways) for free!it was just wow and the fireworks lighting up the valley and the motorcross and pro skiers it was perfect conditions all week too and there were about 3000 students in the resort which made for amazing nights out!
just a perfect week really!
