Well it's been done. I have my flight confirmation for Mexico 07/26/08 - 8/01/08. We were even able to upgrade to first class so that should be a nice experience.

I'm excited!!!

Mexico eh? Pretty big place. What part?

We're going to spend our first three nights in Isla Mujeres which is a small island off of Cancun and then we'll spend our last three nights in Tulum which is about 80 miles south of Cancun.

We'll probably just rest for the first few days but when we get to Tulum I'm told that there is tons to do.

Regardless... it'll be my first real trip out of the country so I'm excited.

I'm going down to the post office tomorrow to do it. I'm fortunate enough to live near one of the "regional centers" so in the event I don't get it in time I can go down there 14 days before travel and wait in line to pick it up.

So now the challenging part... lose some pounds and become fluent in Spanish.

Shouldn't be too hard... I think if I eat Chipotle three times a day I can lose weight and learn Spanish at the same time. Chipotle is healthy authentic Mexican food right, lol?

This is the greatest plan I have heard in years.

Please keep us updated on how this works out.....lol.

Don't drink the water or anything with ice in it, don't see the donkey show (unless of course you are into that), do go to a dog race (spider monkeys riding greyhounds in jockey suits, SO FUNNY, yet so wrong) and yeah, learning some spanish is always good. See some ruins. You are going to a great area for that.

My mom paid my way through college from income generated by the donkey show.:pout:

learning spanish shouldn't be too incredibly difficult... unless you have my teacher... been in the class three years, don't remember a thing, and still get A's...

yeah... Im in the market for a "Learn Spanish" thingy ma jig. Lots to choose from at Barnes and Noble but trying to choose one over the other isn't all that easy.

They did have a cool book that taught you pretty messed up stuff like how to negotiate services with hookers and drug dealers, talk a chick into going home with you, and how to converse in road rage, lol.

Those pics bring back some good memories of Mexico. Looks like you enjoyed yourself.

Oh and those fish you took a picture of... they are some nasty f*ckers when you feed them. They'll take fingers, toes, whatever they can get their little mouths around.

Did you do any scuba diving? or just snorkling?

GreatScott

^^^ Just snorkeling. Maybe go diving next year. I didn't feel safe learning to dive while out there.

I learned to scuba dive in Mexico (I'm not certified), but I may have just gotten lucky in getting a really good instructor. It's definitely worth it.

The first time we talked to him he looked at my little brother and was like "How old is he?". We told him he was only 11 but more than capable of going, and he was just like "uhh... ok suit up".

I'd like to get certified over here then go back and do some diving. Cenotes rock!!!

Diving in a cenote would be epic.

GreatScott

^^^ Funny you mention photoshop. Indeed there has been some photoshoping here but it's not of me. My girlfriend is actually in the picture starring at me but she hated the image so much she asked me to take her out, lol.

We had a photographer following us around that day. He took some great shots of us right before we entered the water. There was a guy from Jersey that got a shot of him entering similiar to me but actually got a toe in so you can see the ripples starting up. I'll see if I can find that when I get home.

^^^ We went to a few of them but I wasn't really keeping track of the names... just the mosquito bites.
