OK, heres a pet peeve.
Cabs are great, but theres like one per 10 mountains over here. Everything else is a chair lift, which if you havn't noticed, is not very boarder friendly. You ride one way, your buds ride the other, and that fat skier on your side is taking up all the room, so your new ride starts looking like a chainsaw molested it. ... Hey dude, move over.
We need something better. Maybe a chair lift with the seats facing sideways or something. Start thinking about it. Maybe demand to speak to the manager, and ask why us boarders are being disenfranchised. Managers are afraid of the big words. We represent a major portion of their profits, and how many kids are learing to ski anyway?

Gondola's are awesome, but they get crowded easily. Six packs are the best, comfortable, fast and fit a lot of people so the lines move good. Quads are meh, pretty slow for my taste.

Yeah my board always gets screwed up since I ride goofy foot and most people around here seem to all ride regular when they get on the lift with me :)

i dont really have much of a problem with chair lifts, but they would be way easier if they were sideways and you could have both bindings strapped up before you got off.

Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention this: Some of the lifts are stupid slow. The only way to get from Creeks South base over to Vernon, is to use a double chair up to Granit first. That takes, no lie, about 12 minutes.

oh yeah I know which lift you are talking about. That thing hits you in the ass when you are trying to get on...

I never understood why some lifts pick you up fast, go up really slow then drop you off really fast.

It just seams that way. They only go one speed... slow.

all we have where i am is a stupid triple chair that takes 8 minutes to get up the mountain. (we timed it).
My lift takes 12 1/2 mins up and and an avg. 8 min down. But you do get 2100 vert feet a run!!!!

dang we have small mountains cuz all we have are chair lifts, tow ropes, and magic carpets.
agreed with the chair lifts being faced sideways or something. its funny cuz all the skiers get off and get going right away while the snowboarders seem to always have the "10 car pile up" effect

At Stratton they have a couple of six packs, they're amazing, soooo fast. Then they have a bunch of high speed quads which aren't that bad, they have slow triple and double chairs, but meh, and they have a really fast Gondola.

gonadolas are cool cuz they get you up faster.. the lines are shorter cuz they can hold about 8 ppl but regular chair lifts are horrible esp. when theres a skier(s), person riding regular, goofy and regular.. that makes a mess cuz were all different ways.. there should be a lift just for snowboarders..

Yes, I've also lived through this painful experiance. Better off getting on the Shuttle bus!

I'd have to say that gondola's are usless unless they are on big mountains. Mt. Creek should have never aquired a gondola. A. it's open air, so you're freezing your ars off and B. You have to take off your board completely. It looks like a noob convention at the top of the hill with all the people scattered sitting to strap in.
chairs are good as long as the top has a decent slope off of it. I usualy strap in before I get off the lift, unless the chair is cramped.

I like that gondola just for those reasons. You take off board, its not dragging your boot off your foot, or getting cut-up by other peoples edges. Its open air, to help cool you down after a hot run. Granted its cold for the first trip up, but after that I can't wait for the cool breeze to go through my pant vents and across my ... uh .... beans. And theres no pile-up effect, so the lift practicly never stops. Its has stopped a couple of times, but I've never been able to understand how someone could have a hard time walking on or off the thing.

the mountain i go to only has 8 gondolas on the lift to the carpark, so it is good to get one of those because its a long and slow journey. Other than that I hate chair lifts in general and usually like to be by myself or with only one other person....otherwise it's carnage

Well gonge-olas are okay. But i know that at brackenridge they have a high speed quad and a gondola next to eachother and you are gonna get up the mountain a hell of a lot faster on the quad. So thats what i usually take. But if you aren't in a hurry the gondola is cool too.
