I've only tried these on picnic tables, I'm way too scared to do em on rails.

It all depends on the rail. I still mostly do 50/50s but when I try boardslides, I usually end on with a little spin while on the rail, so it starts more like a 50/50, through a board slide, and almost to a switch 50/50 before I run out of rail. I guess it looks OK, but its not what Im tryin.
Backside boardslides can teach you why you need a helmet. Try em on easy rideons first is my opinion, although I only tried em a couple of times.

i usually always go on rail with fs boardslide cause its just easier to balance yourself while looking forward. i guess some people just lean too much to one side and find it hard but as long as you have your arms out and feet centered, i think this is the easiest way to ride a rail, especially curved ones.

Front boards are easy I think, or at least if you skate and can do them then, you can move it to a snowboard fairly easily. But I am sooooo tired of seeing videos where everyone's street rail tricks are always front boards or back lips. Yeah it's difficult on a kink but come on it's so tired now. more variety is good.

I think they're easy. You're saying frontsides as in doing the rail with your back to it, right? If so, I like them, they're easy but fun.

no thats backside, a front board is where ur going backwards down the rail, shred ur wrong, but yah idk, front boards are scary on handrails just cus of the fear of falling backwards, i mean my second handrail it was scary as **** just bs feebling it, its sooo steep, u got any advice (its just a 21 stair) cuz its still scares me, and ive never gotten to try a round bar handrail a fs board. but i think i could bs salad cuz i got those on lock, ne advice? anyone.

front boards just take a little practice. everyones scared to jump into a front board their first time, just give it a few goes on a mellow rail or box and get better until u can take it to a cool jib.
whats up with feebles and smiths? is it just me or does it look like a crappy tailslide/boardslide? it makes sense on a skateboard cuz u have trucks, but on a snowboard?

cause to do smiths and feebles right you have to press them, you dont just get on at a weird angle

yah man i hear ya. i see people throwin em, they look cool. i jus feel like a lot of snowboard tricks are more a difference of style than a different trick. for example boardslide and tail slide. if u do a boardslide over ur back binding and just stand up it looks like a boardslide. but if u do the same thing, lean into it a ton and style it out, its a tailslide. but its all good i love doin tailslides/noseslides, its jus weird comin from skating where its a completely different trick ya kno.

who the hell does boardslides over their back foot?

Feebles and smiths are bogus. If you're pressing them it looks pretty studly. But so many people ride up to a rail and go feeble simple because they don't have the control or commitment to boardslide. That's how i started. When i learned to jib, i started on a box and couldn't commit to a full boardslide. It's easy just to ride a feeble through. That comes from people just riding onto the box/rail instead of actually jumping and turning 90 for the board. While lips may be overdone, i still think they're awesome. yeah they may be getting easier and easier with experience, but they're still technical

when i board 270 i definately favor my backfoot a little bit. it helps me jump out 270 if the rail isnt very high, or if its a down rail. maybe i suck but i cant 270 out good when the rail is dead in the middle of my stance. I think it looks cooler the way i do it too.

Front boardslides are easy in my opinion. The first time I went out snowboarding I did two rail tricks - 50/50 and front boardslide and I landed both.

when I 270 I land in the middle and when I 270 out Im still centered.

yeh i reckon smiths and feebles a bit weak, however they do look sick on high rail, if ur all tweaked out and sh*t,
FS board slides are a sweet move if u shifty ur body with ur face looking down the rail! over rainbows try them, on flat or street rails its a tad tougher cause u need to watch ur heel edge more!!

Its diffrent for everybody. Most of my friends that ride regular prefer backside boardslides, but there are that few that find frontsides easier.
I have no idea why this is.. but it definatly happens

ok I'm confused help me out
okay so is a frontside boardslide when you are going down the rail with your back towards the way you are sliding? or is it the other way around??? does it matter how you mount yourself onto the rail??
also what does it mean to "press" something???
thanks

frontside boardslide is facing the way ur sliding. and i dont look at it as one is harder then the other. they are both probably the same but the reason everyone freaks out about frontside boardslides is cuz its hard to keep yourself in front of the board so the board slides out and there it nothing worse then land right on ur ass on a skinny hard icy rail. if u are going backside and slide out then u can catch yourself with you hands

o and pressing something is a nose or tail press. where you lean to one side of your board so you are almost buttering(manualing) on the rail
