View Full Version : A New Trend?

Last year the Airblaster leg bag was really huge and most people wanted one. But this year i heard the newest trend that only the best riders wear are HULA HOOPS. The Airblaster is completely finished now that people are wearing hula hoops.
i just decided to make this cuz i thought the leg bag was ridiculous. It cost 60 bucks for one. Like yeah i thought they were okay but just such a rip off.
lol, where by the chance did u hear that about hula hoops. well it make a good challenge down the slopes

Those leg bags are anoying, I don't see how people wear them all the time, feels like I have a squid raped around my leg.
Big cargo pockets > leg bags :)
NEFFsteeze

Yeah it would be a good challenge but people are also gunna carry jump ropes out of the back pockets instead of bandannas or anything. One person will probly take this seriosuly and do it then it will be the trendy thing to do just like the leg bag.
Travis parker wants to quit airblaster and start riding with a hula hoop.

leg bags are awesome i hold all my stuff in them, and they are $60 because they arew handmade in the us by people who actually get wages, they arnt made in some malasia sweatshop like all the burton gear.

I see what ya mean but i still don't think its worth 60. Maybe like 40. Like i did want one last year until i found out the price. And just to let you know that Burton boards are made in Austria in the same factory as Forum and Jeenyus.
I still think hula hoops will catch on.

The best thing I ever tryed was an umbrella. It was raning a bit so I went down the park with the umbealla. You cant do hits but you can do rails.
There were these kids trying to hit a fifty foot box and they couldnt get it, but then I passed them and did the whole box while under my umbrella. I think next time I should take it off a cliff.

Sure the leg bag is trendy, but you could be cheap go to a thirft store and get a fanny pack to do the same purpose. My friends in New Mexico are leading the bring back the fanny pack campagin. Personally if it doesnt fit in my pockets i dont need it. I bet my jacket has some old crusty food in there right now.

Im hoping somebody in this thread takes this seriously cuz i sure don't. I want to see somebody ride with a hula hoop real bad cuz it was look soo funny.

Come on now, still even if they are made in the US of A, 60$ for a stupid little bag that raps on your leg come on now(I bought my bad ass dakine heli bag for 60 dollars and that was well worth it). Hell most of the snowboarding pants and jackets these days already got a thousand pockets on them, so whats the point of putting your wallet, keys, phone, gum, lock, lollipops, and your shovel in one little dealio and combining all that weight to that one area your leg, when you can distribute it all evenly in the pockets that you already have and dont have to spend 60 dollars for hahaha. I think some people are just dumb and have to have it just cuz its new and there "oh my gosh i wont be a good boarder if i dont have it". Yeah well thats what i got to say about that...

Well I looked at this leg bag thing on airblaster. I thought it was going to be a large backpack-type dealie, but it's roughly the size of a wallet. A $60 wallet?? And I'm thinking in Canadian dollars. $60 American... I paid about that much for my Ride brand pants...
Just my two cents: the idea of a leg wallet/bag is handy, but the price is ridiculous. :P
I like the neon hula hoop idea. Neon is the new black. It's subtle, sophisticated... classic.. yeah

All you have to do is ride and have fun. That’s what a lot of snowboarding is about, having fun and at the same time pushing eachother. But if I saw a guy wearing a one piece neon green 80's snowsuit and bust out a 7 that would be some funny ****. If you take things too serious than maybe this sport isn’t for you. So think of some funny things you can do this season.
How about renting a banana costume and busting out some big airs.

Well, I mean, while kellen is wearing girl's jeans, he's still edgy, but if they come out with a line of girl's jeans for guys, he can know it's no longer cool. Like back in the 90's, when walmart started selling guy's jeans with the exposed top of the boxer shorts sewn into them... :)

The opposite would be to wear pants that are actually designed for someone your size and gender. :)
that woudl be me! they ain't big, they ain't tight, but the fit just right!
i know what you mean kellen with the per-destroyed jean craze going on. liek whihc low rise is the rightone, what the hell si the difference between boot cut and mens flairs, arn't pipes and straigth legs the same thing? to much crap otu there. it's liek comeone man, ther are panst you put them on so you don't get arrestes for walkign around in public wiht your junk hanging out.

i wasnt trying to emphasize the ripped jean thing, just saying :
what defines jeans that fit?
there is no definition of fitting jeans, its all personal preference, so stop hating on the tightness or bagginess of jeans, it doesnt matter, you are just making yourself look stupid
kelly
09-07-2005, 03:24 AM
Oh, I wasn't saying I hate tight jeans or baggy jeans... I was just saying those are trends that establish themselves through variation from the norm - which is wearing jeans in the way that they were designed to fit. And there is a definition of fitting jeans, because each clothing item is designed to fit in a certain way.
cuethebirds
09-07-2005, 03:34 AM
yes but give me a solid definition of "jeans that fit"
you cant right? because whatever you thought of as a definition is just your opinion on jeans that fit, and how you think it should be, which is completely different then what another person would say as a definition.
kelly
09-07-2005, 03:40 AM
actually, there is a range which would be considered a standard fit - somewhat loose but still form fitting. For girls it's a bit tighter, but not skintight. For most jeans, if you buy your size, the jeans will fit within the same range, unless they are labelled "loose fit" or something. Sizes and fits are pretty standardized, otherwise it'd be really confusing to shop.
That is different from your personal style - you add style to things through variation from the standards.

You know... I don't know what people have against trends. They are what they are. If people think they are cool, then who are we to judge. Just because you disagree or dislike a trend doesn't give you the right to diminish it for others.
We were all young, or maybe we forget that. And part of being young is learning about who you are through experimenting with trends. And EVERYTHING is a trend of some sort, even the things that seem "not trendy". What I mean is, as a young adult, a trend is anything you follow because you want to be like something, someone or fit in somehow with some group.
So, can we refrain from judging people because they like bandanas or leg bags or hula hoops? I'm tired of the name calling, this is lame, that is lame... wtf people.
If you don't like it, say "It's not my thing." and MOVE ON. Stop criticizing others for what they see as fun and meaningful to them.

P.S. Most of these Trends, fads, and fashion statements are meant to be fun. Why is everyone so damn serious about everything?

i totally agree, even not fitting in with trends is becoming a trend. Too many people try to be original, when in trying to original they're fitting into the trend of trying to be different, when to truly be original is to just do/wear/say/buy whatever you want regardless on whether it's cool or not. Personally, i love bandanas, hate leg bags, pants, and goggle sag. i have an obsession with checkered accessories (sweatband, belt, ipod case). i say just do what you wanna.

I feel somewhat behooved to make a statement here myself. What I feel is there are people here who take an authoritive tone with people yet have been in the sport for about zero time. They have really no background knowledge to speak of, yet they always seem to be telling people what's what. I guess some people just like to feel above others.
I'm not talking about anyone in particular, just something i've noticed around the site. A bit of a drag.

Okay....got to confess here.....I did something the other day just to get laughs....I got this killer halloween mask of the typical "grey" alien...well, me and a bud were riding so I put this thing on along with the funny 3 fingered hands and rode down a crowded run....it was hysterical! People were laughing their asses off! I wonder how many people crashed gawking at this freaky alien hauling ass down a run on a snowboard! Sometimes its just fun to clown around.

I love seeing people just having fun like that... We should all do something silly one day! Pull out some old bridesmaids dresses... Halloween Costumes.... whatever.

Last Friday, I saw a boarder dressed in an all-red outfit with a purple cape. I've no idea what that was about.

I've seen someone with a captain america outfit, apparently he also has a batman and a spiderman outfit too.
I think the SBA crew that always goes on trips should get SBA jumpsuits made. haha.

well, we've only got Sunday left..... I've got a 6 foot black wig... might be kinda dangerous...
my old boss in CO would ski in a chili pepper costume he had specifically made for that purpose so he could advertise his mexican restaurant on the mountain... getting around intrawest property rules...
now tourists get their pictures taken with him.. he's a regular "naked cowboy"

I'm so out of the loop, I finally looked up the airblaster bag to see what it was. I haven't seen anyone wearing them on the slopes or maybe just haven't noticed. They seem kind of silly, especially for 60 bucks?! And they remind me so much of the 80's! The only thing good about the 80's was the music.

what do you mean? $60 is a perfectly reasonable price for a fanny pack for your leg... I mean you may be thinking normal fanny packs are like $20, but this one is for your LEG. Duh. ;)

OK... I have to say that yes the LegBags are not what I'd wear.
HOWEVER... I can see a purpose, especially during spring riding when the weather is nice and you don't need a jacket. Very hard to carry anything with you in just your pants pockets. (Which I only have 2 small ones in my spring pants)

I think the new trend is going to be capes (like my avatar). I've already seen one boarder wearing one.
