I've been looking at some different Smith goggles and some Dragon ones. I just discovered my old goggles disappeared so now I need a new pair. Grrr... So frustrating especially when I need a bunch of new gear and money's tight.

Got a chaep pair Smiths for night, and Oakley Wisdoms for day. The Oaks have a chrome look and don't let much light through.

I just picked up a pair of Oakley L frames I think they were. I have to say, trying to pick out goggles was confusing, they all seem the same to me. Except my old ones, they were crap. But I guess when your up at a mountain and its a Noreaster, you have to get whatever the mountain shop has. I want to get goggles that don't allow you to see my eyes though

You should just get an extra lens for your googles that is ionized. Most shops usually stock a few extra pairs. I'm wearing a pair of Dragon DX with a few different lenses for different conditions. I love 'em they're so light weight I feels like your not even wearing googles, plus you can change lenses in about two minutes.

I havent seen any replacement lenses for the L frame, do you know of anywhere?

LoserGuy

Did you know Oakley fires a steel projectile at its lenses to ensure eye protection? If any fragment passes through, the lens fails and has to be re-designed. Isn't that bitchin?

Spy Comet's!!!! I loooove them. Mine are blue camo w/ an amber lens. They're $80 goggles, but I got em for $25 cuz my friend works at the shop! ;D

I also have a pair of Dragon's which Tara Dakides wears [I'll hafta check which model]. They're army green colored with a polarized lens, so I only wear em when it's reallybright n sunny. They're so comfy too -- like fleece for ur face.

My friend wears Velvet goggles. I think she looks like a bug tho. =/

I don't have them on me so I'm not 100% sure, but I think my new pair is Oakley O-Frame...from what little I've used them, I like them. And I have an ancient pair of Smith's that got left in a lodge at the end of the night that nobody claimed when I worked there, those are my emergency backup :)

Ive got a pair of Smith goggles too, but i think im going to get a pair of oakley's next season.

snowboardnguy90
05-20-2005, 08:33 PM
yea i sport the Smith... mine's alright with clear orange lenses. I wanna get more polarized lenses tho... cuz mountain creek can b kinda bright sometimes. They were round 60 $ i think, but the Creek overprices everything... so i dunno. I wanna get oakleys most... cuz my Smiths are just too big for my head (which is too big for my brain =P).

for my first post, I will have to tell you all that I have the Oakly A frame. there gel blue with mirrored lenses, and my second pair I have a pair of Dragon goggles. there pretty fricken tight, there a burnt Amber, with a mirror lense. Hell yeah

I just got my Velvet Flurry goggles in the mail a week or two ago... They are clear blue with a semi-clear lens. I got them for night riding. I have a replacement lens for them for blue bird days, crazy ass polarized lenses that are blue and green mirrored depending on how you look at them. And, these are in addition to my Black A-Frames w/Persimmon lenses which are sooooo comfy on your face.

Those Velvet Flurries, you gotta be careful with. Even with them at their loosest, they can feel tight. Try 'em before you 'em ladies.

Yes, I'm a gear-aholic.

*sighs* i guess im the only person in here rockin the Utopia Too Dirty gogs. personally i love em. theyve got 2 thin layers and 1 thick layer of foam that makes for an UBER comfortable fit. they also come with two lenses, a chrome mirror one for sun and an amber one for clouds. or mine did at least. they run for about 90 bucks if you buy em with the 2 lenses but its worth every penny. they never fogged on me ONCE this entire season i had em. id get snow in em and they wouldnt fog up id breathe in em just to see if they fog up and they wouldnt fog up. if you want a super comfotable goggle that never fogs and has super clear lenses id suggest pickin up utopias. if youre in the twin cities area of minnesota twelfth stone snow/skate shop in woodbury in valley creek mall sells them

I have a pair of Oakley A frames and love them. have different lenses for different conditions so they work nicely. Also like Iris goggle they are so comfortable but expensive and hard to find lenses for them. Love the Oakleys though cause they dont cut off the peripheral vision

Adidas Yodai - Really liked these until some gypo stole them

Oakley Wisdom Fire - I've only worn them three times. Only good if it's really bright, and they don'y fit my helmet. At least they look cool.

Electric EG1 - I love these. Really light and I can swap the lenses when the flat light hits.

SimonInAustralia

Oakley Wisdom.

Black and Fire Iridium lenses for bright sun.
High Intensity Blue lens for flat light/overcast.
Clear lens for night.

If the problem with the Wisdom and your helmet is because of the plastic end of the strap, the hinged part where it connects to the frame of the goggle, hitting against the helmet, you can buy the Oakley Wisdom helmet strap kit. It is a replacement strap with different shaped platic hinge bits the fit better over a helmet.

wait how could goggles be uncomfortable?

SnoChica
06-18-2005, 08:27 PM
Goggles can be very uncomfortable. Sometimes the cushy foam parts can be scratchy or stiff. They can be too tight. They can pich around your nose. Obviously, you've been lucky enough not to have had uncomfortable goggles.

My first pair were these little girls googles that were pink, they we nice except when i was on the hill for too long, lie 10 mins, they would fog up and that was a pain in the ass. So now i have these riding google for motocross, they are so much nicer it is just they look funny on my small head since they are so huge.

But with out the googles it really sucks ur fack get cold fast and snow gets in ur eyes. Or at least it does for me!!

Got to the hill on Saturday, went to go riding, realised I left my goggles at home...****!

It was snowing, so I couldn't ride without them.

Had to go buy a new pair.

Should have just bought the cheapest I could find, they would have done for the day, ended up buying another set of Oakley Wisdom, pink frames this time.

That makes four pairs of Oakley Wisdom, I don't think I need that many.

I used to use Oakley but I've moved on to Smith.
My instructor friend from IL is a rep.
The Smith Prodigy's are S I C K !!!
Your wouldn't believe what you can do to the frame with the lens removed. I twisted it around like 2 full times and it goes right back when you let go. Never had an Oakley you can do that with. Plus different lenses are cheap and ship fast.
Go Smith!

Red mirrored lens all day.

alright, ive had everything from oakleys to spys, and my favorite are dragons, but its mostly about how your face is shaped. peopl with differend sized and shaped faces like different gogles, its just what works for you. dont go out and spend 200 dollars on a pair of oakleys online before youve ever tried a pair on, youll probably get dissapointed and screwed out of 200 dollars!

I'm probably one of the only people in here that is in love with their Bolle's, I got some this christmas that are the shiz. I think they're called Screams, but they have mirror lenses, top and bottom vents, some other cool crap and the back clip, so I'm damn happy with em. I really do like Dragons though, I had the Dragon Ranger glasses for close to a year, and yes, they did fit perfect, but one day, when hopping a fence, they fell out of my shirt pocket, a 5 foot drop, which cracked the frames, sad..

I usually wear sun glasses, like the cheap 20 dollar pairs because I am cheap, but I'm getting some goggles for this season. My cousins opened up their own eyewear shop online called Birdz Eyewear.

oakley all the way. A frame or Wisdom. both have same lens choices just depends if you like a small frame, the A frame, or a larger one like the Wisdom.
for low light the high intensity blue lens, the brightest on the market.
for bright light the black iridium or fire lens.
Oakley has the best optics by far.
