Find a resort that has what you are after... IE good park, good backcountry what ever it is and get a job as part of the ENCC. Evil Night Cleaning Crew. You works from close till 1 or 2 and get a free pass. Leaves the rest of the day to ride and a couple hours to sleep. Make friends w/ the kitched staff and the bar keeps they will definately hook you w/ food and brew.

Resturount Jobs are good to pay the rent and put food on the table so you can snowboard all day every day. Thats what I am doing this year.

Honestly, I'm up for anything anywhere.... I didn't get to do any riding this last winter because of the ****ty Washington conditions and I want to just up and leave and get out of Seattle for awhile... as for jobs.. I have no idea, I've got restaurant, bartending, sales, management experience and just want something to do so I can pay living expensives while living in an igloo. (ha.. i wish). I've filled out online applications at a few different places in WA and OR, but y'all know how that goes. I do the recruiting/hiring at my current job and the online apps rarely get hired. I'm just kind of looking for suggestions, so far, the info/tips I've gotten are helping, I'll figure something out..Thanks!

well my best friend is doing something cool this winter and im gonna be doing it next winter.... moving to mammoth california.. the resort owns like half the city so you can work in a nice restaraunt and get better money anywhere else because of the tips, plus since its owned by the resort he gets to ride for free and live in staff housing.. i dunno how many other resorts do that but if you can find one, i definetly suggest it... or just move to mammoth and do it, its one of the best resorts in the country anyway

i live in puyallup and i go to crystal mountain in the winter. i'm a snowboard instructor which is pretty easy. you get to ride all day, and then ride some more. it's pretty easy to get a job. just go to the job fair. watch the website for dates. www.skicrystal.com (http://www.skicrystal.com) you don't need much experience to teach...about a year or so. you go through clinics and such. it's really fun. the pay kinda sucks but you get to live in a house while everyone else lives in crappy dorms! if you make buddies with food serivce you get cheap/free food. it's pretty nice. and it's always tons of fun! lots of parties, bonfires, stuff to do! even though you're in the middle of now where, everyone is walking distance. the people are awsome, the work is mostly fun, and you get to ride everyday. AND you get free passes to other resorts owned by boyen (the company that owns crystal). i even got to hangout with warren miller a bunch! even though we had a crappy season. i hope you figure it out! keep your options open! i suggest instructing only cause i hear worse from other work areas...instructing seems the most fun!:D

i dont know what employers require in canada, but to get into canada from this side of boarder u need a valid passport. if u require a tourist visa first u can stay up to 90 days, but must show proof of ur return trip. in order to work in canada u need a work vista and i heard these are hard to get.

You don't NEED a passport to travel to and from Canada and the US until the end of 2006. Until then, you can use any accepted form of identification like a Driver's License. However, in my experience traveling to and from Canada, it's just EASIER to do if you have a passport.

I already looked into Whistler jobs, they've got TONS, buuuut... they offer them to Canadian citizens first and will only fill the positions with international applicants if they cannot find any qualified Candians first (or something to that extent). I think I might look into the instructor bit... I haven't done it before, but I've coached sports teams for the past 5 years, so I'm wondering if that will help...

ok, you don't need a passport to get into canada. what you need is a valid drivers liscence and a birth certificate...no exeptions unless you have a passport. i was just in canada last weekend and i asked. to work at whistler or anywhere out of country you need a valid work visa. your work visa will state when you are allowed to begin work in the country and when you must leave. if you don't leave by the time your visa is up, you get deported.

most resorts around here offer the housing and all the perks of being an instructor. i looked into boreal in cali...all the same perks except they don't provide housing, but they said it's pretty easy to find houses in the area for rent, as homeowners know and expect resort workers to be looking for places to live.

i hope you find what you're looking for! it's really not that hard to get hired at a resort. i'd try a local mountain your first year, then start venturing out. it's nice to be somewhat close to home, so i can call my parents anytime work is slow (with this past season) and i need some food or money. sounds like you've done some coaching before, if you liked coaching you'll LOVE instructing! it's fun and rewarding!

I'm thinking about doing it this winter also. Just up to Big Bear I think...they're having hiring fairs in October. Your local mountains might have something similar. Good luck!

actually you'll be hard pressed to find many canadian workers up here most of the are american or australian...... plus you can work cash in hand so no visa is required....tons of people work like that....

Just check out any resorts, they are always desperate for seasonal workers. They pay's not the best, but you get housing assistance, discounted food, and free seasons pass.

I don't know how this works at other resorts, but at most Tahoe resorts... instructors are usually in demand so you'll always find jobs and you will almost always work on weekeneds. But if it's a light day, the job (and the best classes) will always go to the the Level 3 cert, level 2, and level 1 (in that order) before going to uncert. It's great if it's a powder day because you get to go riding then, but if you really need the hours, then it sucks. The new instructors are almost aways stuck with first timers and 2nd timers, very rarely do they get to ride with a high level student (unless it was on request).

Good luck!

Fully backing this. It took me a full season to get a clientel built my first year instructing. Made bank at the end of the season, but did not get to ride for ****. But your boss will toss you more work the more you are there for line-up and to take **** lessons. and face it you are instructing so you do not make **** for money, so you will be begging for hours at some point.
