I was readin that nothing that touches your skin should be made of cotton. Mesh poly fabrics, or under-armor things are good.
But I was thinking Underwear is made of cotton. Am I the only one wearing underwear?

Hahahaha. No, I highly doubt you're the only one wearing underwear.
I haven't heard that thing about not wearing cotton cause I've been wearing clothes made of cotton since I started boarding 9 years ago and I've never had any problems.
I don't think wearing cotton is bad unless you get wet. The only thing is that cotton does not wick off body sweat it absorbs it. As long as you keep the cotton warm you will be good but if you take off you jacket and then get cold it is hard to warm up again.

well i made the mistake of wearing sweatshirts before made of cotton and after like an hour or so the whole bottom of the sweatshirt is stiff, and just frozen with snow. it sucks.
Yea I hate that that why I don't wear hoodie's any more.

I've never had that problem when I wear hoodies. The only thing that does happen is that my hood gets wet so that part kind of sucks.

My new stuff is all waterproof, and it does make a difference. Hardly get wet at all. I was even riding in the rain a couple of weeks ago, and it took hours before I was too uncomfortable to board.
Even though the pants are waterproof, the pants zipper fly definitly isn't. Was sitting on the lift, and the rain must have puddled on my lap. Halfway up I nearly jumped out of my seat. You don't realize how cold that water is.
gotta get some goretex briefs. depends maybe.

sometimes, depending on the weather, i'll wear my kombi thermals under my gear. nothing wrong with it..it keeps me a lot warmer than wearing nothing at all (just underwear). but, one thing is for sure..i'm not ever gonna wear just a thong under my gear...LMAO...

Never really thought about it before, but I'd have to agree with ya. I'm never gonna wear a thong under my gear either.
And that wind beneath your wings will freeze your popsicle levi. haha.
Yeah it gets frost bite every now and then......when the snow is deep!!!! ha ha
people still wear cotton? haha j/k but for real as long as it doesn't get wet i see no problems. so don't eat ****.

does anyone know anything good to wear like long sleeve that is good for a top layer but not cotton. I dont want a jacket because i have this sweet vest that i usually wear, but i end up wearing a sweatshirt underneath and the arms get frozen etc. anyone know of anything good??
try some under armor. It's kind of expensive but it is good stuff.

Most comfortable way to ride is first layer poly's - no underwear, then your pants and jacket over the poly 1st layer. Believe me cotton sucks -absorbs moisture.

Wow cincy, wearing nothing? I think I may have to go boarding where you do 8) Yeah wearding a thong doesnt sound too comfortable, I know my ass still gets cold sometimes when I am wearing my boxers plus thermals.

Cotton is bad cuz it can hold water. If you sweat then it absorbes it and gets cold. But really it has to be very cold to do that with your underwear so i just say F it.

go comando!!! why no thongs? i wear 'em if it's warm enough, or boycut undies. if i wear regular underwear i get wedgies, and under snow pants = no bueno.

i used to wear cotton for the base layer, but after a few runs i start to sweat and it got frickin' uncomfortable in there. now i wear polyester/microfiber moisture-wicking boxer briefs & shirt, a fleece vest, and a goretex shell on top of it all. my ass still gets wet sometimes, but the rest of me is dry & warm. it's worth the investment.

If you go commando, you might want to keep your pant zips closed. You may end up with a whistle, or a flap.

thermals are like long underware. Cotten is the enemy if it gets wet it's not going to get dry till you take it off and it won;t do much in the department of keeping you warm. poly pro is good just anything but cotten, fleece is allways good dries fast keeps you warm. IT comes from experiance that cotton is no good

Capilene base... best stuff ever. Really light. I didn't realize how well it worked till day 2 of a weekend long trip. Forgot a 2nd base shirt and wore cotton. Felt like I was sweating like a pig.
I use Underarmor for my pants. Awesome as well.
