Does anyone snowboard at Snowbowl in Flagstaff, Arizona? If so....what are the best runs in your opinion?

Is that the mountain on the way from Sedona to the Grand Canyon? I have this picture of some mountain in the dead of summer with snow caps in AZ. It was on my way to that big hole in the ground.

Yup, that's the one.

The best boarding there is if you hike the top of the bowl. Other than that it's ass. Go to Sunrise. Only a couple more hours and they have two peaks and a hell of a lot more snow and trails.

I board up in snowbowl everyday off from my work down in phoenix. My bro and I go up for day trips all the time. Last winter was off the hook. Got stuck in blizzard on our way back to phoenix and shreded the I 17 it was ill. But yeah the good runs are back country off the top lift if you want to hike 100 yds. Theres a nice bowl there lies above the top run down the left side of the mountain... that was sick.

when I was younger I was at the snowbowl near flagstaff, I liked it. also sunrise is real good too. I think. for what AZ has to offer.
hmmm and best runs I can not help you on that. I was in my twenties and I can hardly remember back that far now days sense I am a old fart and have some timers lol.
all I remember is I had a good time.

I realize this thread is old, but for posterity's sake, here is my take...

Best runs at Snowbowl,

If you like riding trees,

From top of Agassiz lift, follow the Spur Catwalk and watch for an unmarked dropoff on the left into the trees, great riding, always untouched powder, not too tight.

From the top of Sunset lift, take Southern Belle and keep to the left of the run until there is a cutoff to the left, follow the path and you end up in Fort Valley glade, It has the most spectacular view on the mountain short of hiking the bowl, there are some great routes through the trees, and it is always completely deserted.

If there is enough cover, hiking to the upper bowl is definitely worth it and is your best bet if you dont like trees.

Snowbowl doesnt really have that many good runs, but the tree runs there can be fun.

SnowWolf would be a good person to ask, I'm pretty sure he rode there when he lived in AZ.

Yep...that was where I lost my virginity and became a snowboarder.......LOL It was a great year there last year (2004-2005) and I drove up from Phoenix every weekend. There are some good runs I thought if the snow is good....Lava Bowl for example is pretty steep and some of the lines off of Agasiz are fun.....I love the tree runs through those beautifull stands of 80 foot tall aspens! Even though Mt. Hood rocks...I still miss riding under a severe clear sky in warm sunshine and being able to see the south rim of the Grand Canyon from the chairlift.

ya a good 3 weeks of snow, and half the runs were not fully coverd. They only had it open from the midway down. It really did blow 05-06 year. I hope this 06-07 season is good, or im takin the extra 2 hour trip 2 bigbear cuz I cant go a whole season and only snowboard 3 days again. ITS NOT WORTH IT!

bigbear is the next best place....can't depend on sunrise, even though it averages more than snowbowl, and travel time is pretty much the same.

Compared to a resort farther north, Snowbowl is like eating dust. However, if you've never boarded its a pretty decent resort.

Arizona Snowbowl can be great in a good year. Sunrise is better or at least more reliable. With this warm dry weather, neither place has been like it used to be...I go to Durango or Telluride for good boarding.

Went up to Snowbowl on saturday, I was pretty surprised at how much of the resort had decent cover. Looks like it should make a really nice base if they start getting more snow up there.
