I always see a TON of ausi's in Colorado at the resorts
kelly
09-28-2005, 02:28 AM
Yep, I think some of the resorts have deals where they ship people back and forth for their respective seasons....
Webbo - maybe if you asked some specific questions, people might be able to give you advice?
I don't know much about Colorado but don't drive an SUV pass Kelly!!!!! Come on you know that was funny. I have been to winter park and steamboat. I like both of them but I can have fun riding anywhere!!!
kelly
09-28-2005, 03:50 AM
Would've been more money if you said "past" instead of "pass."
Steamboat and Winter Park are both very fun :)
I’m an engineer and they don't teach you much spelling and grammar doing that. And I am the worst speller in the world. I have to look my own name up to get it right!!!

I went there last early winter. Christmas day - new years day. I stayed in boulder with a friend. So if you are in that general area then Keystone and Breckinridge are musts in my opinion!

i'm not a big fan of Keystone. the only thing good about Keystone is the park and night riding. the lines there are terrible. but there are so many awesome places in Colorado. any of them are better then Australia, except Eldora and Howlson

Hey, I kinda like eldora... but I guess it's sentimental :)
But yeah, no keystone.. snow there sucks. I guess they do have that gigantic park, but it's kinda crawling with tourists - like they had this huge bowl thingy last year, which was pretty odd looking (not sure what you'd do with it), but no one could actually use it, becuase they put a tunnel at the bottom end of the bowl to get out, so all the tourist kiddies were like tunnel! woo!

Chyeah right! Keystone kicks ass! 3 peaks.Highest peak 14,000 feet. Heavenly bowls. The oh so famous BBQ rail. A51 - Nations biggest night park. Also great for the family with some real nice long begginer runs. And you can get nice deals on lift tickets, Works at breck and 2 days at vail and somewhere else. Its best towrds the spring when they have everything set up but it was a little slower than other resorts to get into the snowboard thing but they added another $mill to the park. Yeah, I've been to better places but they also cost a lot more. But honestly if you've only been rideing in MN and havent been out west, you can pretty much go anywhere and it will seem godly. And when you come back EVERTHING sucks... Spirit, everything. Its pretty sweet.
Haha the Little Chit'lens did screw up the tunnel. Then there was that little lip at the end of the tunnel and they'd fly through the tunnel hit the lip and just sail! Kelly Gap the top of it! but you have to admit the BBQ is sweet which they made bigger this year!!

Ok....
1. The highest peak at keystone is NOT 14,000 feet, it's about 12,000, the same as most of the other resorts in CO
2. Keystone has like 1 bowl. Half the resorts in CO have more & better bowls than keystone. The only ones that don't are below tree line.
Keystone is fun if you're coming from out of state, I'm sure, but you might as well go somewhere with better snow and fewer crowds, right? ;)

Skistone is da bomb. And I like Breckinwreck just as much (aka: it's the shizzle). You can't say that all mountains in CO are the same, each has it's own personality.
kelly

keystone is da bomb? what? argh, you people... oh well, guess that leaves more actually good mountains for me.

12-28-2005, 12:33 AM
(insert sarcasm here) no you didint! How can you say that Skistone isn't da bomb? (exit sarcasm mode)
I don't go to Summit period. I was just havin fun with ya.. Do you realize that the best mountains don't have lifts & the names of the peaks aren't well known? the best boarding in colorado is its backcountry.
kelly
12-28-2005, 12:36 AM
Yeah, I don't do too much backcountry, none of my friends do it, and they're the ones with cars.... plus it seems kinda scary.
Summit is ok in a pinch.. I like a-basin.

I've been there. I enjoyed brekenridge, copper, and beaver creek. They were all fun. Keystone was just alright.
haha whats all this hatred for keystone? Is it because the front face is all icy?
I mean i kinda understand it can be way crowded, but so is everywhere else!
The outback has many many hiddin rock drops, logs slides ect. not to mention hidden smoke shacks, great terrain park, hidden hits.
kelly
02-08-2006, 03:23 PM
I dunno, every time I've been, the outback has been all icy too. So I gave up. Plus, the snow never seems to hit keystone as much as the other mountains. And every mountain has hidden smoke shacks (although I don't smoke) so that's nothing new.
They do have a very elaborate terrain park though, that's just not my thing.
true, thats a very good point.
keystone doesnt seem to get the snow other mountains do. This year they have been getting pounded with snow though. Still is quite icy though.
