Who out there is in a band? I'm the singer for my band, and we kinda suck cuz we never get to practice, but once winter rolls around and marching band for our guitarist and drummer to open up and me to get out of soccer, but yea. I also strap trash cans to my feet and bounce around, just to accent the sound a little. What do you guys do?

i play bass in a little band me and a few others have set up as a fun side project to do. i play the bass, and the 4th person who is supposed ot be practicing wiht us, is never around, but technically he is still part of the band.
I used to drum in a couple of different bands when I was a teenager. My first band was a screechy riot grrrl type band. A few months ago, I found the tapes from when we recorded on some kids 4-track. Frightening. Our name was Dead Kitty. We were so hardcore.
I was also in a band called Doozer during high school. This was a more punky alternative band that probably would have been cool if the lead guitarist hadn't been completely egotistical and insisted on doing loooooong solos during every song.
Despite all that, I sometimes miss being in a band. It was really fun, and I really really miss drumming.

Society 1 is popular because their lead singer does a suspension act during their set. They suck by the way. I figure castration would pull one over on them. Plus he could finally realize the full potential of his falsetto.

Only girls who really appreciate music dig bass players. Cause if girls were smart, they'd know that's where it's at! The bass is hot! I love bass. And Bass players!
I know, I always seem to have a crush on the bass player of a band...I think because I always had so much fun jamming with bassists. It's just more fun.

I used to play in bands. I played guitar and sang in some punk bands when I was like 13, hardcore bands in high school, I sang and played guitar in this band called Aurora 7 for a while. We were pretty good. I was told we sounded like a slightly poppier Spiritualized. I didn't see it though. I was also told that I looked like Damon Albarn and I don't see that. After we broke up and our drummer sold all our recordings without telling us and made money off it and people actually liked it, I just built a studio and put everything down myself. It became more bass-heavy, ambient, sampler type stuff. Now, some guys want me to play bass in a metal band which I'd like to do but never have time.

It's a well known fact that there are only 3 cool bass players in the world.
In no particular order:
1. Duff McKagan - Guns n' Roses/Velvet Revolver
2. That guy from Green Day
3. Janna - Handsome Geoffery/ Whatever they changed their name to now.
Unfortunately, if you play the bass, unless you are one of these people you can't be cool. Sorry.

I have seen Primus play twice. Once in a small club in Tokyo and once in an ice rink in vail. He is a great bass player and very entertaining but unfortunately he is not cool. Primarily because he is not Duff, Janna, or the guy from Green Day. He was pretty funny though, taking the piss out of a few of his drunk countrymen Vail on the other hand is not cool for a number of reasons including but not limited to: no-one picking me whilst hitch-hiking, closing the lifts because of lightning danger so I only get one run in and then not giving me another pass because it was a comp, the guy at the omelette place chasing me down the street cos he thought I didn't pay then when I pointed out that not only did I pay but left him a $10 tip on a $12 bill all he could say was "well you left so quick I thought you hadn't paid." and being full of rich people who think skiing consists entirely of wearing fur and drinking mulled wine.

Yeah, you're right about vail... Hate that mountain... although you forgot: that there are no free parking lots (wtf? like the lift prices aren't already steep enough?), and it takes so long to get to the good runs that by the time you get there, it's time to go home... oh yeah, and if you go early season, no one will be able to tell you where the park is, it'll be like they accidentally misplaced it or something.

I won't play the Jerry Only's only cause I hate what he did to the Misfits. So corny. I think it's the bassists who just play the same notes as the chords the guitarist is playing that give bassists a bad name. It's the bassists who put together some fat lines and work with the drums that deserve respect.

i've always been a bigger fan of the days with Danzig on board as the head man of the Misfits. but i liek the Skull Busters, because they are fat, fluid, heavy soundiing strings. i don't think i coudl ever "hot wire" the set up in my bass ever like Jerry did when he built his, because i liek to play around with volume and toen levels. Jerry did that by basically runing straight wires in his set up and not using any volume, tone, or picth controls. i goof arodun with the **** on mine so muhc that i can't ever have one set way to dial in when i play. simethign i have to do is get new pick-ups, because mien are old,a nd are gettign a little shoddy. they are giving off this feedback that is pissing me off.
