Hey everyone. I've been boarding for 2 years, and i consider myself a pretty good boarder. The only thing is, that i havent tried any tricks yet. I just bought all new gear so I can try some tricks. Any advice on how to practice or go about doing a trick? Maybe some advice on a railslide?

It helps to be an excellent freerider both regular and switch i have seen so many kids who think that u can just put ona snowboard and bust tricks try a rideon box and land but they cant ride well enough to stay up myself im a jibber so i like rails better than jumps but pipe is fun so im kinda racist against jumps but boxes are the eisest way to start learing how to keep ur balance on rails boxes before rails in my opinion when u are just learning

i busted my board on a rail- you have to try to keep the board angled at such a degree that it doesn't pull you down. i've only 50-50'd a couple times, and screw that racist pig, jumps are awesome lol just make sure you got enough speed- if you try and add a spin to a trick get enough air to see the ground when you land or you fall on yur ass. Boardslides are so much easier than 50-50's, i've even done a bs boardslide. make sure you hop the rail so you don't land weird.

Here is the first thing - get a helmet, in the amount of time that I have been riding I've seen some crazy stuff. People breaking legs, wrists, arms, backs.
If you want to try tricks on a jump start with knowing how to ride swtich almost as good as you ride on your normal stance. This will help you when you learn 180s/540s
Next thing if you want to practice rotating start on the grass outside your lawn, you will learn how well you can rotate your board. Practice rotating the board in a clockwise and counterclockwise motion.
If you can do a 360 both ways youre good. The rotation will come off the jump and its the way you open your body up that will stop the rotation.
Make sure you can go in straight too many folks I have seen who are learning jumps are just scared to land. On a board you can't land sideways at that speed and you'll just eat it.
Last but not least dont chicken out last minute - Fear leads to hesitation and hesitation leads to crashes.

hmmm i think you should definately get some good advice, unlike that retard who told you boardslides are easier than 50-50s. I dont care if your just starting or a pro, im pretty sure its universal that a boardslide is quite a bit harder than a 50-50.
if you got all that ****, why dont you haul your ass up to the mountain and just try getting some good air off a jump? Just focus on your pop, what your snowboard is doing while your in the air (keep it even with where you wanna go), and having enough speed. But you'll get the hang of it, and you can build from there. throwing in some spins and grabs is a good way to build your balance in the air too.
There's definatley validity in having some good riding experience before you just strapin and fly down the park. But it doesnt say anywhere "Must be good". everyone started one day.
Good luck man.

for doing rails try 50-50s first by just riding on straight.. rails are way easier than people make them out to be, its just like riding on the snow. lean ur weight more down the rail and make sure to keep your board FLAT... if you dig your edge you will fall and most likely fall hard.
after you get the 50-50s and then the boardslide (frontside is harder than backside) try spinning while on the rail... keeping your board flat against the rail and always shifting your weight so that it is down the rail.
its easier to go when u have speed
go for it!

If ur gonna try a boardslide, u need to remember 2 basic things.
1.) if its a ride on box, dont turn on ur heelside edge b4 u get to the box/rail, ur board will usually just slip out from under u. if your just startin with them, then just hit the box crooked and go into a boardslide to get the feel for it, then later just pop up, and land in a boardslide. and
2.) on of the biggest things, lean forward. I c way to many people lean back or what not and fly onto their backs, ive also done it a bunch. Lean forward wven if the box is sloping up. if u fall forwards cuz of leanin to far forward, then ull a.) see where your fallin, and b.) u will most of the time make it across the box b4 u fall so ull hit snow instead of the box. Hope this helps.

never go for anything you're not comfortable with. that's when you get hurt. just take the small stuff and step it up as you think you can. don't let other people tell you when you're ready to move on unless you agree. as for rails, i don't know what that guy is talking about with his backside boardslide being harder than a 50-50. first off, the hardest b/s is frontside(you're back going down the mountain, or you going blind) and backside is facing the way you are going. regardless, a 50-50 is the easiest thing, you don't have to worry about edeges so much. is a boardslide, just keep your weight centered over the board. first try a 50 to a boardslide, then try getting on the rail in a b/s. as for spinning, niehter frontside or backside is easier. its all the way you spin. most of my buddies think frontside is easier. but me, i can't spin over a 5 frontside, i think backside is way easier. try em both and figure it out. biggest thing is: you WILL bust ass, and you WILL get bruises. it happens to everyone, don't let it scare you and set you back in learning to shred park. good luck bro.

Well, just to let you know, this is my first season. But I need to point a few things out.
1. Why have you only 50-50'd a couple times... it is by far the easiest and most basic grind.
2. 50-50 is WAY easier than Boardslides.
3. What do you mean "even"... I can do plenty of bs boardslides... since backside boardslide is sliding so you're looking toward the end of the rail. I really hope you meant fs (facing towards the beginning of rail) because bs is way easier than fs on boardslides.
4. You don't have to hope (off) the rail... just turn back into a 50-50 or get ready to have your back edge on the snow more than your front. I started off just going bs boardslide all the way, without going back to 50-50, to get used to it.

just do what you're comfortable with and work your way up- riding onto a rail and trying to 50-50 is easy, and if you practice that enough it will be easy to progress. for jumps, start with straight airs (which i hope you have done a few of already) and add a grab. then try a 180 off of some easy bump or whatever and just have fun with it. i suck at jumps though, so i can't give much advice past that haha.

start with the a box, and follow someone who knows what there doing so you know the speed. but the number one thing is dont be scared, bend your knees, look to the end and remember your going to fall but its doesnt hurt as bad as it looks espically if your wearing crash pads!!
good luck

NO....wrong...never "think" you're gonna fall, or else you WILL fall. Keep your eye on the prize and be confident!! always confident.
Remember you can do it, and dont speed check too much, SPEED IS ALMOST ALWAYS YOUR FRIEND!
