Yep, it is a number of photos stitched together using special software designed to warp the multiple images so they fit together exactly as a single image.

The individual images can be taken handheld, but the stitching process is easier if a special panohead is used on a tripod.

The sequence of images in my signature below is how I do my cylindrical QuicktimeVR images. To do full spherical QTVR panos you take more images, multiple rows, up/down, etc.

i thought that was the Imperial City in China, and i was liek "how the **** did they pull an event off in there!?!?" then i checked back on the post and you said in Taipei and i felt really dumb.
