if you're not riding oakley goggles than you're riding in the dark. oakley is by far the leader in optics. try the high intensity blue lenses for low light, you will be hooked forever.

Yuck... oakley.

Velvet Flurries... what's a sperical lens?
I like my goggles cute.

most goggle companies use a flat lens then they bend it to fit into your goggle frame. thus making it distort your vision because they are now bending the light spectrum. kinda like a fun house mirror. Oakley invented the sperical lens. now with this the middle of your lens is the thickest and it gets thinner as it get towards the sides and top and bottom. exactly like prescription eyeglasses. oakley actually inhances your vision on the slopes. it goes even further when you buy an iridium lens. they add more contrast and depth so you can see even better. they actually prove it to. it's so crazy. if you pull your lens out of your goggle you should be able to tell. oakley a-frame and wisdom lenses can't go flat if you tried.

Too bad they're way out of my price range... oh well....
(and not so much cute)

Satan
10-11-2005, 12:57 AM
yeah that's why oakley costs so much. they introduced two polarized goggles last year. they retail between 170-220 bucks. depends on which model you choose.

kelly
10-11-2005, 01:03 AM
Polarized... damn, do you really need that? I'm way too poor to be able to see well, I suppose. I don't think my lens is a flat lens bent into the frame, it's kinda bubble shaped.

Satan
10-11-2005, 01:04 AM
yeah the polarized lens is sick

kelly
10-11-2005, 01:06 AM
Uh huh... ok, if you say so.... I think I'll stick to spending less on my goggles than I do on my snowboard for now... ;)

Yep, high intensity blue is the go for low light. One of my Wisdoms has that lens, as did one of my A-Frames.

What do they call the 2 polarized lenses?

Satan
10-11-2005, 01:16 AM
ones a VR28 polarized
and the other is a high intensity blue polarized

Ya know, I thought that, until I realized my range of vision was better with the A-Frames. Still, it's personal preference, and affordability. To me, it's worth the money to have the nice fleecey softness on my face. :)

Spy or Dragon all the way. I don't see how my Spy Soldiers are any less of a goggle then these Oaks. Lauri, I'll hafta give urs a try next time we ride, kay? =]

They probably aren't any less than the Oaks... I have never had the chance to try Spys or Dragons.. I can only compare to my Velvets. And Fae will tell you that she LOVES her Velvets. And that the Oakley's are too large for her face.... So it's all about preference.

Next time, we'll swap.

I do like that I can wear your Oaks over my glasses though when I'm a dumbass and forget my contacts.

^ ohhh I wonder if I can fit my glasses under my Spy's? I'll hafta try that, cuz I never wear my contacts n I'm pretty blind. Of course, my glasses are thick-framed, n not the normal wires.. =/

hehe we'll hafta have a snowboard AND goggle swapping day!

I dont like how the A frames are single lense.
They also fog up and crack easy, you should see my A's. Huge crack right by the nose, and lenses arent cheap either.

They know their stuff, make ****ty lenses and sell replacements for 60$

You might be doing something wrong bro. There's no reason that your lense should crack when you put them on (if that's when it happened). If they crack cuz you whiped, then that's more understandable.

Well, I decided to find out what all the fuss is about on these A-Frames..

Picked up the glossy black with the blue irridium lens on ebay for pretty cheap, n they arrived today, so I'll test em out tomorrow, or next week when I ride at nite. I'll see how they compare to the mirrored perssimon lens I have in my Spys - which already do pretty damn well at nite.

Thats odd, both of my new A-frames have a dual anti fog lens in them. Also, compared to the goggles I have, and ones that I've looked at, the outter lens is significantly thicker.

I was having major issues with my spy goggles fogging up. I wore them on my head more than over my eyes because it was so bad. Since I got my A-frames I haven't had any problems. On snow/rain days I'm not fogging up anymore, and the HI lens is just amazing. On sunny days the iridium lens does just fine for me. On top of that, they are comfortable, have good peripheral vision, and fit in my helmet nicely.
