So here is what I am thinking. I can add a section for reviews on this site. Like everything else here it will be community driven and everyone will be able to write reviews to keep it interesting and going. So, with that said I want to get an idea to see if anyone would be interested in posting up some stuff, if everyone just wants to read, or if noone cares at all so, let me know :)

I think that's a good idea, although hopefully we can keep them to just reviewing a specific product, and not rants about how we hate the company or something... ;)
One would hope that people would save their rants about certain companies for the discussion boards. Although, G, you might want to make it a rule that people can't post useless stuff like "THIS BOARD SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S A BURTON/K2/RIDE/NEVERSUMMER/WHATEVER!"

well yeah and you could also review mountains which would be fun.

Yeah, it would be great if the review posting would need to be somehow limited to people who had actual experience with the equipment, not secondhand knowledge... because that's the most interesting to read when you're looking for new stuff.

Hey - can it be put in some other section of the site that doesn't show up in new posts? the way the gallery is....
gerard

yeah it will be completely seperate so it will not affect the forum.

Great idea then... :)
Might as well use all us snowboard geeks for something interesting....
Plus, I bet it would be good for the site, because I think lots of people probably search on google for reviews when they're buying stuff or planning a trip...
Hope it's not too much work!

hehe probably, the only reason why I am putting a lot of thought into it is because I think it would really cool but if noone posts reviews then it becomes usless you know? And, it will cost me a bunch of money and not to mention time probably to get all of this going.
kelly
10-12-2005, 05:03 PM
Yeah, true, although it's probably good publicity for the site, so maybe you'll get some $ back? I dunno...
We can always put a warning up there that posts that don't have something specific to do with the review of the product/resort will be deleted.

have a section for product reviews, form outerwear to boarsd and ****, then have reveiws of videos for the season and past season... since we all throw insight into the stuff we say in this site anyways, why not add reviews!
Yeah, I definitely think having a review section is a great way to attract people to the site. You might want that section a bit more moderated to avoid useless reviews or reviews that are so riddled with spelling errors that they're difficult to understand. Just helps things look more trustworthy, you know?

I think faelina's right... maybe users could submit reviews for approval or something? It seems like that would make it less work, because if people knew their reviews had to be approved before they were posted, they might not post as much BS... that way we wouldn't have to be going through everything deleting stuff. Might need to add some more moderators if that section really took off though.

Will the reviews be limited to just snowboarding things? I am dying to give my opinion of Javier De Frutos' Milagros. The choreography was just divine.

Well, you could always start a new thread about it.... might be a lot of work for gerard to make a totally comprehensive review site... ;)

yeah I agree with kelly I think for reviews it should be kept to just snowboarding related stuff. The review section will have to start out small with a few different kinds of things to review then grow but I still need to upgrade some other things to the next version and save some money before I can get the review thing going.
Oh, and I agree with the Dude that there should be a couple of different categories. It would make the review section really useful...most review sites only review boards, so it will be nice to get binding, outerwear, and video reviews too.

we could have a music section though, since music is a pretty big part of the snowboard scene. i mean, you can watch a video , btu ewit out music? hells no! you gotta have some track in there!

Maybe you should start a review section donation fund, and ask for some $! :)

What like we could not only review gear, but also mountains (their Lodges, Parks, Staff) and also what CDs, Movies, Resturants??
Why can't we just do that in the Movie, TV, and Music sections that are already there?

Yeah, maybe start with snowboard specific things, like boards, bindings, softgoods, resorts, and videos... with the goal to expand beyond that into things like music eventually.

Why not just do that in the "Music" section??
kelly

Yeah, for now, people can review non-snowboard related stuff in the lodge section anyway, if they want....

im with the voice. i know what i like and i ride a ton of new product. so i would be able to give a lot of info on different setups. most people aren't as fortunate as us to ride so many different boards and stuff, so i feel it would be very useful to people who really want to know about certain products.

Yeah, that's true... we have a few people here who'd probably be really good assets to a review site, you guys could help make it a good review site and get more people coming to SBA. :)

in the upper right hand corner you will see a thing that says add reviews, click that, and then select regular or resorts, basically if its not a resort then its regular. Select the category, then post up neutral information about the product. After you are done with that, open up the product and click Post a Review and then tell us what you think of the product or resort.

For anyone who is confused, here's an image with the "post review" button highlighted. Hope that helps!
why is no one posting reviews. we bitched about this a bit and now G set it up for us.
Well, all of my gear is horribly old, so there's no point in reviewing it. I did review a dvd though.

Because you haven't reviewed it yet!
Oh nevermind, yes you did....but you didn't tell us anything about the actual mountain.
