Argghhh.... I have my pass for Meadows; now when's it going to snow??! Even Timberline is closed, and I was going there last year in mid-October.

No kidding, and it was my first full season. I did go every week, though (pass at Timberline), and got pretty good at Ptex repairs. Tahoe must be nice... but expensive.

naw man, its actually not that expensive, me and my buddy found a 2 bedroom place for 650 a month and jobs are sooooo easy to get here!! A pass to sierra at tahoe is only 200 bucks, and same with kirkwood!! Peace....

There was snow last mid-october? I guess that's for the part of Timberline I don't frequent.

Yep, Timberline opened last year in mid-September, and that's normal for them. I think Palmer glacier mostly melted away last summer.
But it's snowing today, and they're predicting another foot in the next few days!!!

Say... anyone know of cheap places to stay/camp around Mt. Hood? The 130-mile round-trip gets to be a drag.
I've been to Timberline Lodge, but $90/night is a bit steep. Looks like the Mazama Lodge lets you sleep in a dorm-style room for $15 night if you're in an outdoor club (like the Sierra Club). Sounds great, as long as it's quiet enough. Anyone stayed there?

Nope never stayed there. You could also probably check out some of the hotels in the smaller towns on the way up....although they may pray on the tourists too and raise their prices during the winter.

Where is the Mazama Lodge? I know of a Mazama motor inn or something but it is at Crater Lake.( Mt Mazama).

It's near Government Camp. If you're going up Hwy 26, you take a left across from the Sno-Park and follow that road.
