Final Cut Pro and iMovie help?

Okay for some reason my iMovie videos come out extremely small (the video file itself). I can watch it, but nobody else can and if I try to upload it it says its either empty or invalid.

I tried using Final Cut Pro 3 and I have no clue how to upload the clips off my camera with it.

I suck at this video stuff.

Are you exporting to Quicktime from iMovie? And as a self-contained movie? There should be options in there as well to set things to make the movie smaller, such as resolution, compression, and frame rate.

You get things into FCP by using log and capture on the file menu. Then you put those into the browser window of your project, and onto the timeline of a sequence.

I got the iMovie to work, but I have no idea how to do it in Final Cut Pro.
Can someone explain?
