I was wondering what is the best type of board for powder riding and what is the best for the terrain park.

quite a question!
I can help you with they powder gun
there are three ways to go with powder decks
1 swallow tails, like the rossi undertaker or the Dynastar 4807 they have big pointy noses like a a ski and a split tail these boards are useless unless its super deep when it is deep and wide open they are a blast
these board can be massive too swelpanic makes a 230 CM
here is a picture of it http://www.swallowtails.org/
2 the longboards like the lib tech grocer 180, dough boy 193 or the rad air tanker series the biggest one is 200cm, these boards are a blast if you can handle the longer boards and want a board that will carve crazy well when you get it on the groom after you are done riding the pow
longboards are my choice for a powder ride I am gonna get a rad air tanker
3 extreme taper like the burton fish, malalo and Prior kyber these board have a much wider nose than tail this allows you to keep the nose on a short board up and are easy to turn very tight
at weigles heli allot of guys swear by these boards I have not had the chance to get on one yet though
I am told they are THE board for tight trees
but on hardpack I assume they blow and they are not something I would want to land switch on
for the park short and soft is you are a rail junky
pipe and air I like a stiff tail so I can get some pop off the tail
