Truckee/South lake Tahoe, California—Although the Lake Tahoe Resorts are almost two weeks deep into spring, skiers and riders would never know it by the incredible mid-winter snow conditions in the Sierra. With Sierra-at-Tahoe™ receiving 18.5 feet of snow in the month of March and Northstar-at-Tahoe™ receiving 12 feet, both resorts are blowing away their seasonal snowfall averages.

Sierra’s average annual snowfall is 420 inches, which it has surpassed by a whopping 100 inches already with 240-520 inches falling so far this season. Northstar’s average annual snowfall total is 350 inches, which the resort has already exceeded by 10 inches with three weeks still remaining in the season.

Last night, Northstar received 14-20 inches of light, dry powder, bringing the resort’s base depth to eight to fourteen feet of open powder, rider packed and machine groomed snow. Sierra received 14-18 inches overnight bringing its base depth to 100- 223 inches.

Currently, both resorts have projected closing dates of April 23 (subject to change) which means skiers and riders have just three weeks left to take advantage of some of the best spring conditions Lake Tahoe has ever seen. With rain and inclement weather hitting the beaches from coast-to-coast, Lake Tahoe makes a great spring break alternative.

Sierra and Northstar welcome spring breakers with College Week April 10-14, when college students can purchase a $41 lift ticket to Sierra and Northstar Resorts when they present a current college identification card.

After an epic season like this one, skiers and riders should not miss out on the 2006/07 season and spring is the time to get the best deal on next season’s Double Whammy season pass. The only dual mountain pass that lets you ski both Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resorts, for as little as $359, in just six visits skiers/riders are carving over 4,000 feet of vertical drop for free. Guests who turn in their lift ticket at the end of the day can receive up to a $30 credit toward next year’s season pass purchase.

For the latest conditions reports and pictures from Northstar and Sierra, visit SierraAtTahoe.com or NorthstarAtTahoe.com. Sierra-at-Tahoe is located on Highway 50, just 12 miles from South Lake Tahoe and 83 miles east of Sacramento. Northstar-at-Tahoe is located on Highway 267, just six miles from the stunning shores of North Lake Tahoe.

haha, I dunno about that "dry, light powder" thing... you don't get a 223 inch base from dry, light powder ;)
Loveland got snow this weekend, and their snow total 365 inches, more than sierra's (although less than northstar's, damn them!)

It sucks that I couldn't pull money together to go west this year. Hopefully they have a good season like this next time.

Come to Portland this spring or summer.....we have a 22 foot base at meadows with a little more at Timberline. They are pushing additional snow on top of the 30 foot base up on the palmer Glacier. Summer riding at Timberline is looking to be epic and one for the record books.....as long as it we don`t get a sudden hot spring....then Portland will be under water.....LOL
