So, Mountain Creek missed their opening date. No surprise there, although I would like to be snowboarding already. Anyone think they will make it by this weekend? Here is a pic from today at the creek.

Made it to the Creek on Sat about 9. Had to leave by noon cause it was too crowded. Not bad for a first day though. The lines were stupid long on South, so we spent most of the day on the Bear lift. i'm hoping they'll get Vernon open by next weekend. Those guns were a blazin!!!
gerard
12-20-2004, 02:21 AM
Yeah it was really crowded on the blue square, too many idiots on the mountain.
CrazyOldFart
12-20-2004, 06:22 PM
Whats up with the extra $5 to use the good park?
Its a one time fee, but holy crap, don't they make enough money already?
And now theres gonna be a line to get DOWN the hill.
gerard
12-20-2004, 06:30 PM
a line to go down what hill? Yeah I don't really understand the whole pay to get into the terrain park idea. I think it was to keep idiots out but they can just pay 5 bux and get in. They need more trails.
gerard
12-26-2004, 01:51 AM
anyone heading up there tomorrow?
CrazyOldFart
12-29-2004, 08:14 PM
Heading up to the creek this weekend. Good chance of Friday, and perhaps on Sat, if I can wake up in time for a decent day. Its tough to get up early on New Years day.

hmmm i've never been there b4.. is the mountain goood?
maybe i'll check it out sometime.. where in jersey is it.. annnd how far is it from nyc?
CrazyOldFart
01-07-2005, 09:01 PM
Mtn Creek, is probably the best there is in Jersey, which isn't really saying much. Its close to a few of us, which is really why we go. You're closer to some much better mountains, but it might be worth the trip to us if you came down.
And is Raving the same as dancing to Techno?
HunnyRaver
01-07-2005, 09:10 PM
ooo i didnt realize that it was that close to me.. bout an hour and 15 min.. not too shabby.. i'ma def have to check it out soon
and no thats not all raving is about lol.. and there's more music there than just techno.. techno is just a sub genre of all electronica that's out there

CrazyOldFart
01-09-2005, 03:41 PM
Just down the road is Hidden Valley, and I know there a few other small rides in the area, but yeah, the creek is the only decent one in NJ.
I think the rain was great! Everything got soaked but the snow was soft, and there was no line.
gerard
01-09-2005, 03:44 PM
True, except for the whole getting wet part. Although, it would of been nice if that rain was snow :)
gerard
01-09-2005, 03:48 PM
It definatley was empty up there, that was actually really nice. Kinda like free reign of the mountain...

where is mtn creek and is it worth a road trip from richmond va
gerard
01-13-2005, 05:58 PM
It's in NJ. Their terrain park is good and its close to me but would I drive from VA to go there, I probably wouldn't.
gerard
01-13-2005, 06:02 PM
BTW, I am still waiting on someone to design the stickers. I really want to get them done and out to you guys but getting them designed is the hard part. Do you know anyone that is a good designer?
CrazyOldFart
01-13-2005, 06:43 PM
I don't want to make any promises, but I'll hit up a few people I know.
Is there anything special that should be mentioned?
gerard
01-13-2005, 06:56 PM
Not really anything I can think of specifically. Just want something that stands out a bit looks cool and everyone will like

I just went to Mtn. Creek yesterday, I'm probably going tomorrow, Sunday, and next Wednesday. I just started really snowboarding again this season so I'm not that good yet, but it all comes back to you pretty fast. My left binding strap is currently duct taped together so I am finally going today to get new ones. Not the smartest of moves. I am probably a professional rider and just don't realize it yet bc I've been on such ghetto equipment.

I went on Monday night (1/10/05).
To tell you the truth, it was actually rather nice for the following reasons:
-no lines, the only busses that were there were like 3 busses of vernon, nj school kids who left a 7
-not as cold as I was expecting (it was sunny during the day)
-i didn't spend much time in the main park, but the people that were there were only experienced riders, no little kids on leashes on landings and such like at other resorts in the east (CAMELBACK! =o)
-although the snow was kind of heaped up in piles here and there, there was still snow and regardless of the fact that it was obviously man-made, there were good conditioned
-only a few patches of no snow which ski patrol did a good job of x-ing off with orange poll things
My first post on snowboard addicts, hey.
gerard
01-16-2005, 08:07 PM
hey welcome to the site... Yeah Mountain Creek isn't all that horrible. It's great for local riders and considering NJ weather it could be worse. It could be Hidden Valley hehe. And for only paying like 200 bux for a season pass, how can you go wrong?
parlo
01-16-2005, 11:18 PM
Yeah I've got this sheet of like buy one get one free tickets and there was like one or two free lift tickets overall on there.

So.... Saturday I broke my wrist & hand at Mtn. Creek.... The left one and I am left handed. I got it realigned, which was a blast, and I find out next Tues if the bone stayed where he moved it. If he didn't I get wonderful surgery. Icy conditions suck. I felt like an ass. Then Monday one of my good friends that's a much better rider than me went and did the same thing, so I don't feel as bad. BE CAREFUL there!!!
CrazyOldFart
01-18-2005, 09:28 PM
What a bummer. Hope you heal fast, and not lose the whole season. Gotta learn to fall on your forearms or your butt.
gerard
01-18-2005, 09:31 PM
Ouch! Breaking bones is not fun. Get better soon. Maybe we will see you out there with a cast and all :?
Twinny
01-18-2005, 10:38 PM
one of my friends broke their wrist this weekend, i did it last year but you can snowboard with a cast on, just get a big glove to cover it and keep cozy.
CristinSI
01-18-2005, 10:44 PM
yea I'm sure I'll be going again soon assuming everything stays in place this week and I dont need surgery! Seems like a lot of people are hurting themselves this year bc of the conditions, so I can't even say "look for the girl with the cast" bc who know how many there will be!
I cant wait to get this off already. People need to cut up my food for me. Its awful.
gerard
01-19-2005, 03:14 AM
yeah this year the conditions suck. Plus mountain creek seems to be more icy then most.... Good luck with healing

Mt. Creek is far from being anything special. It's Icy 90% of the time. I do go every friday night though because a friend of mine has free passes. Otherwise I would be heading to Camelback.

02-05-2005, 12:28 AM
Hey whats going on? I'm new to the board. I would say mtn. creek is about what it will be for this time of year, maybe the base is isn't as deep as it should be, I guess spring riding will be cut short this year and then its more trips up north. anyone go to hunter or wyndhm? but for what creek is, it isn't bad at all. anyway anyone going up for the grand prix, if you are are you riding too? this weekends going to be a blast.

02-14-2005, 03:46 AM
im not sure of this but i heard a rumor that you get your lift ticket half price on weekdays if you show them a weekend ticket from another mountain. does anyone know the validity of this?

I haven't heard anything about this but I wouldn't worry about it anyway. I'm going to be pecemistic and say that the season is pretty much over. It mid-feburary and all the snow is disapearing and it's supposed to be in the sunny and in the mid 50's the next couple of days. IT SUCKS!
gerard
02-15-2005, 03:28 PM
yeah I would have to say that this season is crappy. But I will be riding on slush for as long as I can :?

dont rub it in, I got a season pass. and I went to hunter most of the year. But the pass was only 200 bux and I went 5x to mtn creek so it works out.

I just got an email from Mountain Creek:
$189 for season ticket for 05/06 and you get to ride the rest of this season for free (not like there's much left).
Thought I'd pass that info along.

03-18-2005, 10:41 PM
yeah its a decent deal if you dont have a season pass.
redace24
03-19-2005, 06:50 PM
I also purchased the pass for next year. It's pretty sweet that I can go the rest of this year for free. You also get a free pass to the water park for the summer and a free round of golf.

:bump:
That's my kind of a bump....almost a one year bump.
I have a question for you Creek riders...do any of you ride any of the Diablo Free ride park features like the wooden plank on cab ride or the banked turns that are seen from the gondola?
