Ok, I'm living in Massachusetts for 6 months. I've been here about a month and a half already, and the longer I'm here, the more I'm convinced I'm going to get into a car accident before the end of the 6 months. Just about 45 minutes ago when I was coming home from work I must shave nearly gotten into 2 or 3 accidents, the worst one being when I was pulling into my apartment complex and somebody coming out was driving on the wrong side of the road in the parking lot and nearly hit me head on. Any thoughts on Massachusetts drivers in general, or drivers from any other states you want to complain about?

I seem to remember a complete disregard for the lane lines painted on the freeway the last time I passed through Massachusetts... there were like 6 lanes of traffic on a 4 lane highway.

Drivers in Oregon are pretty dumb too.....they like to do things like drive in the left lanes 2 or 3 abreast and do 50MPH so no one can get around. Also, you would think that in Oregon these morons would have figured out how to drive in rain.....not so, they all do like 30 with a white knuckle death grip on the wheel. The one that really gets me is going up to Mt. Hood.....I have a 2 wheel drive Ranger pickup that is really touchy on snow...I am easily going 45 or 50 with no problem, then I come up on these people in a huge 4 wheel drive SUV with chains on and they are going 20...again with a white knuckle death grip...when I try to pass they straddle the center line to block me in....oh sweet jesus where is my gun?????? I am from Arizona and by and large the drivers there are pretty good....we all go REALLY fast with 75MPH posted limits (90 to 100 is not uncommon) and you do not want to get in someones way by home steading in the left lane....in Arizona they do sometimes use guns.

I avoid driving in the densely populated areas of MA whenever I can. Yes, it's to avoid the M********.
Are all MA drivers like that? No, but enough of them are to make me want to never have to go thru a big city anywhere near normal commuting hours.
Good luck.

and thats why were m@ssholes
and then theres my theory/joke about using cell phones while driving:
having an angry conversation = swerving to the left
happy conversation = swerving to the right
not a happy or sad conversation = swerving all over the effin place.

i've lived in MA all my life. Our drivers aren't bad. It's people from out of state who don't know how to drive :-P. There is a reason we are called m*ssholes. Our driving habits are one of them. but we are m*ssholes and proud of it. and if you don't know how to drive in, around, and out of a rotary, please do not even attempt it.

I dont drive, but I guess that we are kind of bad. I think NH drivers are worse though. I've never managed to be in any sort of accident in MA but I have seen a truck flip over when it was on the ramp onto the highway. I think, like someone else said, its out of staters who sometimes screw us up. You have to be an agressive driver in MA my dad says when we drive through Boston traffic.
Also, I think its also dumb moms or other people who have their giant SUV's and dont know how to drive them. If your gonna have an SUV, learn how to drive them.
Oh yeah, Gumby, did you get in any crashes in Andover? I dont think theres been a major crash here since the mom died when she was pulling out of a daycare center across the street from my friends house. And why'd you come to Andover? Good public schools? Phillips???

NH drivers are the worst, on route 1 in revere near one of the exits there was no traffic at all and people going fast and one idiot with nh plates missed his exit so he started going backwards in the fastlane with people swerving into the other lanes to avoid this guyy

oh man i HATE it when people do that, i mean god you should know where you're going, and you don't have to drive 15 mph to read a street sign, seriously they piss me off.
the highest posted speed limit in alaska is 65 mph, on one highway that i pretty much never use. it's so ridiculous, every other highway is 55 mph so obviously everyone is going 65 anyway. and there isn't even a reason to have low speed limits like that (if anyone mentions "icy conditions" i'll figuratively kick your ass).

Make no mistake though, speed limits are important, 10 over is safe, its the weakest ticket a cop can write. Its a warning on the off chance he even looks twice at you. Anything over 15 over is fair game and shouldnt be a travel speed unless your in a rush or on the highway.
On the highway you need to be doing 75-80 or you are impeding the flow of traffic in the slowlane hahahahah.
But yeah, ignore a speed limit and go 20 over past a random cop and he will bag your ass for sure.
I need a radar detector lol.

So the speed limit goes from 40 to 15?
Im sure theres a damn good reason. Going from 40 to 15 is about as impossible as applying the brakes . And you think that decellerating from a higher rate of speed to a lower one, "just maeks more accedants"
Your two brain cells must have been talking to each other to come up with that one.
Even m******** as myself frown upon running over small children. I dont play go speed racer in residentials after school and when kids are out.
I dont need some kid to chase a ball right up over the windshield, and if I saw them go under the car id pretty much die.
2 am though and I have turns 1 -32 in my around the lake circuit down.
Gotta love MA, you fookers out west have the straightest roads. Around here a flat straightaway is soooooo much more rare than an up/ downhill / corner.

mass drivers arent bad, being from vermont, i will say its the out of staters that don't have a ****ing clue how to get around in a city who's roads where thrown out on a planning board by jackson pollock and then the inbound/outbound signs that send you in the wrong direction from where you want to go (this is strictly eastern mass... i can deal with western mass just fine)... but the thing i learned about driving in mass, is you need to realize most people like their cars, because if you drive to cut people off, they will slowdown and let you in because they dont need an accident since mass. insurance already rapes you, from what i've heard.

The T is a big system, are we talking commuter rail, subway, or busses?
It goes later than 10, not all night though.

theres a jump in my town and we were getting a ride home from this girl we know from stoneham and she ht the thing going 85, usually when you hit it you are going 30 and you catch some air because of the way it was built, but at 85 we just caught the biggest air over the thing. she cleared the landing by a few feet and everyone in the car smashed off of the inside roof(ceiling? idk anything about cars) her spedometer also got stuck at 85
thats freaking awesome...yeah my friends jumped thier h2 hummer...cracked the winshield...badly...lol...

I'm from Chicago but now live in Burlington, VT. I tell you what, too many defensive drivers is a recipe for disaster. All you morons stopping for pedestrians before they even get out in the street or waiting for someone to make a left turn across from you on a green light cause more confusion than anything. PEOPLE IN VT NEED TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE. JUST GO DAMNIT!

i've taken the commuter rail and subway after 10. i'm not sure about the bus though. i've never actually taken the bus around boston. if i'm not on the subway, i walk.

that last run of the T is at 1230- so if you're outside the city (more than 5 stops from gov't center) plan on last run being 1215. busses run until 1am.
