samsung sports cam w/ helmet cam is pretty sweet and not too expensiveI wonder what the picture quality is like on those, don't they record in MPEG4 or something? Though I suppose miniDV is compressed as well anyway.
Also, how much time can you record for at full quality before the memory is full, and can you add/change memory cards to increase recording time, or do you have to upload it all to your computer once the memory is full before you can record anything else?

I have a Samsung SC-X105 which comes with an external "lipstick" camL... It actually records to DiVX. Not the best quality by any means. But the camera is small... smaller than my Nikon CoolPix digital camera. I have a 1GB memory stick and get about 20min on it. I've actually found that the limiting factor is the battery life. In the cold I sometimes get less than 12 min of runtime.
If you want to do any serious helmet cam stuff you're better off getting a good external and just getting a decent quality camcorder to record.
There's some good tips & snowboarding helmet cam footage at http://helmetcameracentral.com/

Ive got the same camera. I bought the extended life battery, battery life is pretty good now. Ive got a 2gb Memory Stick and i get 43 minutes at super fine quality and like 67 minutes at fine quality.
And it actually doesn't record to DivX, it records to samsungs proprietary Mpeg-4 codec.
