I'm the only person around here that has them. I think they're very comfortable, but before my mom bought them for me I didn't like them at all. I do now after I've experienced the wonderful feeling of putting them on after a long day of snowboarding or just when my feet are really cold.

i think they are ugly and way too trendy...it's fun to count how many girls are wearing uggs and a skirt on my campus.

that's why they were called Uggs, because they were "ugg"ly

sicne i am nto a girl and don't wear chick's clothing, then i can see I<3Snowboarding's position on it to be true. guys wera somethig similare to them, except they are low cut and called moccasens. they defiantly feel comfortabel after a day of riding, and i have a pair of moccasens.

except the fashion satement they tried to leave was just stupid. i wear my mocs with a pair of jeans, a hoodie probably, and typically wear them on colder days. i mean, who wears moccasens and a pair of shorts? and if they did wear mocs with shorts, they most likely were the unlined ones that are for more milder days. i use to see girls wearing Uggs with a mini skirt at the mall on a 90 degree day in the sumer. i wanted to ask them why clash cloths modled after traditional mongolian winter clothing wiht summer cloths? wear flip flops insteda or tennis shoes, but not boots in the middle of summer! i think the worst oeni saw was thsi girl wearing a mini skirt with Uggs and, get this, leg warmers. and to make it even funnier, it was in may and she was doning a tank top. it just looked stupid. when you clash cloths, clash colors, or styles fomr certain eras, but not seasons. jsut as a compairison: if i was walkgin aroun in a P-coat (british military jackets form the WWII era, typicaly made form wool) and a pair of surf trunks wiht flowers on them in the middle of July, i'de look liek a damn fool, now wouldn't i?

I would never wear my Uggs with a mini skirt... that's one of the most terrible things I've ever heard. I didn't get them for fashion, I got them for comfort.

Well I agree that seeing bones through clothes is cause for concern, but it's not that abnormal to see someone's bones through skin, particularly around the ribcage. I'm not super skinny anymore, and you can still see my ribs.

haha thats your opinion. I didnt say skinny, i said petite as in a smaller frame. Too skinny is a negative. Petite girls generally have the nicest legs(IMO) so thats why i said that. I still prefer a girl in reefs or whatever but uggs work on a cute girl with nice legs.

Thank you for saying that! But worse than uggs are those moccasin boots that have the fur and beads all over them and the dangly furry pompoms. This whole furry boots thing wouldn't bother me so much if we lived in Nunavut, but this is Vancouver, one of the rainiest cities in Canada, and suede isn't the best water repellant material...

I'm not a big fan of uggs, especially if they are in shoe form. The boots are borderline, in my opinion. I wouldn't hate on anyone who wears them though, because if they want to be comfortable I have no issue with that.

Now, there were these boots this last season that I found incredibly hot. However, they may *warning warning* have been ugg boots. I don't know what they're called. They're def not your typical ugg boot (which I find mildly annoying to look at), if they even were uggs (which I doubt). They were knee length, eskimo-type of things that I thought both looked incredbly comfy, warm, and cute all at the same time. So shoot me now and get it over with :wink:

You know what I find amusing? People bashing on other people for not being cool enough because those other people are 'too cool/trendy' (not that Ugg wearers are 'too cool', but I'm saying in general). Hmmm...

Oh, ok, just googled them... Anyways, whats the problem, if thats what people wanna wear, and like them, whats the deal? They're trendy? Some people say snowboarding is trendy, thats why some people do it. You say you've been doin it forever though, for other reasons? Well, thats why some people wear the uggs then. My personal opinion on them though, they look good on some girls, and others just shouldnt be caught dead in them...Kinda like Honda said, I've seen girls with these knee high boots, eskimo looking style, and just looked hot on some girls... All personal preference, maybe they laugh at something your wear/do?

i wear those shoes for work.
im a dental asst. and they are featured in my scrub magazines and stuff.
they are supposted ot be orthapedically good for you or what ever.... they are fugly though..

but are actually really really comfy - expecially if your working 12 hour days.

I've been an Ugg wearer since I was a little kid - but only indoors as big fuzzy slippers really. Love 'em! :)

When worn outside, I'm not sure. Some girls can totally pull it off, but then I also remember when Pamela Anderson brought them into style in America in the 90's, with pics of her on the beach and stuff.. it just looked stupid, even on her (being in a swimsuit of course).

ok heres how Uggs started. Us swimmers and polo players needed something to wear on our little to feets keep them from freezing off on the pool deck in the middle of winter at 5 in the morning, and Uggs in the middle of winter with a parka is absolutly heavenly. BUT as it turns out apparently the little cheerleaders needed something to keep their of so fragile dancing feet warm too in the nice heated gym, so they started wearing them, then of coarse it started spreading like wildfire and now we have everyone and their mother(literally) wearing them everywhere. Pink, blue, purple, ect. even with their little skirts. it kind of makes me want to throw up.

So basically thats how it went down in my school. Tragic. I still love mine though.

my girl's mom said she's been wearing them for like 20 years or something. i don't mind them. i think it's kinda wack the girls that only wear them for fashion and not function. why wear them in the summer? i can see if you want something warm and comfortable after a long day on the mountain, by all means wear them. in that setting alot of girls even look cute in them. but if it's 90 degrees and you're sporting the sheepskin rugs on your feet, that's just lame!

In the town where I'm from, half the girls own at least 3 pairs of Uggs. They're, what, 200 bucks per pair? It's ridiculous. At first, it was kinda cool 'cause they're comfortable, but then they started to become a fashion statement and everyone had one. But in all honesty, I don't find them attractive. If you want comfort, go with mocassins, they're more comfortable and look less ridiculous. It's just me, though.

I'm sure you guys might think I have a stupid fashion sense in some cases. Like wearing brown and black. I got my ass chewed out by this chick because it "doesn't match".
Don't worry; I wear weird stuff too. I usually throw whatever's clean on and go... one time, I looked down at my outfit once outside and just laughed at myself... but my everyday mismatching "must" is to mismatch my socks. :lol:

Fuggs (Fake Uggs) are the way to go. All of the comfy-ness at less than a quarter of the price.

And I realize I'm definitely speaking as a So Cal snowboarder, but it's so nice to throw on flip flops, track pants and a tank top after a long day of riding. :)

oh and to the person that said that brown and black didn't match. it did briefly after oprah did it. she wore all black and brown boots and made it looked good. then a lot of other ppl started doing it. hey, if it's alright with oprah it's alright with me!

ADRsk8boarder is the ONLY person in this whole thread that hit the damn nail on the head.

They originaly weren't a friggin fashion statement. They were to slip your freezing feet into when you were doing a towel change out of your wetsuit in the street next to your car.

Anyone here ever experienced that feeling? Water temp high 30's - low 40's, wind blowing at about 15 to 30 miles per hour, and your stripping a soggy wetsuit from your skin while wrapped in a towel and cowering behind your car door.

I didn't think so.

We didn't give a **** what the friggin boots looked like.

If you actually used them for what they made them for, neither would you.

to tell you the truth i think it looks kind of weird with a skirt because they look like they would be for the cold...and a girl wearing a skirt means that it is warm out haha...doesn't go together. i don't see the point in them looking like you can go out in the snow when you really can't. but a lot of my friend like uggs.......i don't like them that much because i don't see the point in them haha. hmmm....i read this thread before, and yesterday when i was in my math class i glance over and look down and this girl is wearing uggs... it even said ugg on the back of her uggs haha. and i thought of this thread...but it has been kind of cold, so i could see why she was wearing those, they must have kept her feet warm? but i'm pretty sure she was in it for fashion reasons haha.some things thats become popular are very interesting. i think its all on your personality and style. i think my friends that have them look cute in them. then there are my other friends that would never wear them. i geuss its all about personal preference i geuss...whatever floats people's boat :).

i bought a pair when i was in mammoth this month. i was wearing my old vans prison issue shoes and my feet were cold, so my mom felt bad for me and bought me uggs. in the main mammoth board store. it was great.
they may be suuperr ugly but they are the most comfortable things ever. i love themm.
but i have skinny legs so they don't fill it in and my tucked in skinny jeans don't fill it either. :[. i hate skinny legs. i want nice, sexy calves. big and sexy. :p

I love my uggs, I think that there are really really ugly ones, and just ugly ones. I will never wear them with a skirt, pants always. They are great winter boots, I dont know I think that they are comfortable and warm and just convient to put on becuase they are always at my door. I dont wear them for fasion as much as they are comfortable and warm.

this one girl wore her brand new ones when we went away surfing... well to be fair it wouldny have been so bad if we weren't staying in the village hall so its not like we all had rooms! we just slept on the floor. we were having a big party for halloween and knowing all this she left her Uggs out... needless to say they got drenched in alcohol and ruined and then she spent the whole of the next day b!tching and moaning about it

ya crocs are by far the ugliest shoes out there. they are also probably the most comfortable shoes out there too. I wore them a couple times just around my house and they are amazingly comfortable, i would never wear them in public though

I usually dont get cold. The only time I'm outside is walking to and from class/work/home, so I'm not out for long, I have jeans on so that keeps most of my foot covered. And the fur+the bottom of the sandal keeps my feet warmer than my rainbows.

When I first saw them I thought they were the ugliest shoes I'd ever seen! Then I tried them on....they are WAAAAY more comfortable than an slippers I've ever owned. I've had a pair for about 5 years, and they are still so comfy! I wear them not to look cool, but for comfort (I usually wear them with pajama pants so you know I don't care what I look like....)

but its true when people say they originally made for fashion (at least uggs weren't idk about crocs). and they shouldnt be worn for fashion
i only wear my crocs to and from lax practice or after snowboarding
if i had a pair of uggs i'd probably wear them all the time in the winter just because they're so comfy and warm.
because i know that that whole "hey my foot looks like its in a cast" look is so attractive...lol

yeah the emu austrailia boots are like $70.. which dont get me wrong, is still alot, but they last a really long time. my friend has had hers for at least 4 years. and they're still in good condition. another good alt to the prices of uggs are bearpaws. you can get them at bakers (a shoe store chain..idk if ya'll have them) and they're more reasonably priced.

yes they are ugly. but ill take function over fashion pretty much every day. especially after i wore my sisters uggs (that she got at the outlet for a good price) after snowboarding
