Whose with me?
Seriously whats the deal with labeling people? punk? goth? emo? prep? poser?
Why? Who cares, i wear whatever i want, i buy my clothes what ever i think is cool, and feels comfortable. When i get dressed for school, i just put on whats on the top of my pile of clothing. next the whole music thing, why do people say "oh this band blows" ...its an opinion not a fact.

people make me mad...

Mostly it's because people have issues with themselves, so by putting down other people, or stuff that other people like that they don't they hope to make themselves feel better.

Very true man, people are fu.cked up, reminds me of this MEST song called "Fuct up kid"
"Fuct Up Kid"
The words you say I'll never listen to
Cause if I did I'd be just like you
But you're my enemy and soon you're gonna see
You gotta be yourself to be happy
Cause you're not, you're not
****ed up visions in my head
I'm a ****ed up kid is what they said
But at least I know all the things that I want
And it's all the things I got
Cause you're so quick to point the finger
You act like your **** don't linger
It feels good when you see someone else in a rut
It gives you confidence it makes you happy but
You're not, you're not
****ed up visions in my head
I'm a ****ed up kid is what they said
But at least I know all the things that I want
And it's all the things I got
Cause you act as if you see my way
But I know that you won't leave today
Cause change is what you fear the most
That the end is getting close
And the end is getting close
And the end is getting close
****ed up visions in my head
I'm a ****ed up kid is what they said
But at least I know all the things that I want
It's all the things I got
****ed up visions in my head
I'm a ****ed up kid is what they said
But at least I know all the things that I want
And it's all the things I got
And it's all the things I got
And it's all the things I got

Didnt you just also label Homosexuals? using "gay" as a putdown, arent you also labeling people?
By saying "labels are gay(plus y's)" arent you technically labeling either yourself as someone who considers being the act or being of homosexuality a slander or someone who tosses words out recklessly, trying to prove a point?

Understand that I know and agree with your point. Your delivery is however, crude and lacking.

Corrected, and im sorry for that, but in the way i meant gay as in stupid, before i knew what it was i heard it from others meaning stupid. It was not meant as a stereotype sorry

yea, i really don't care what ppl label me personally. the whole thing about posers, its not a label, its the type of person who thinks they are B.A. and they try to act like it, when in reality they suck.

people who label either have no life or just need to try make themselves look as if they are far more superior, which in most cases are the exact opposite because once people get to know them they don't care what they look like, but how they act. For instance, do your friends care what your wearing, i don't know about you but my friends don't, so the only people that would possibly need to label me would be the ones that i don't know, which to me means absolutely nothing at all.

you don't really notice until a blond kid dyes his hair black, he wears a fake fox tail on his ass, and he has cut marks on his wrists that are really obvious, then he annoys you about it and expects you to care.

I think I'm a bit of all the labels. I've never managed to fit nicely into one of the groups, but it gets a bit annoying when people think I'm all innocent and naïve. What, is it my shy disposition or my t-shirt with cartoon characters on it? And yes, I do watch cartoons frequently. I'm just not as innocent and naïve as the other viewers. Maybe I should get some death metal t-shirts. :)
The one thing I hate about not being in a clique is when you have one friend in each of the groups (eg. one popular friend, one gamer friend, one Japanese friend, one artsy friend...) and you invite them all to a party, no one knows each other, and none of them get along too well, or don't have enough in common to converse.

blah, blah... I'm babbling again

well this is a hard topic. beacuse people are gonna label u anyways, it's beacuse of our contries love of all kinds of music so if u like a certain music ur gonna get label as that genre's name.

and gay is used as a glang term for; stupid, retarded or ****ed up. get used to it

i think a comedian brought this up but, what if labels were really nice cool things about people.

like "you know those emo kids are soo nice and caring" or "Gay people are really funny witty people"

Proximate Platypus
05-31-2006, 08:29 AM
I think we do that with our own cliques... like "snowboarders are all very interesting and kooky" but different people from other groups get bashed... weird.

Inner narcissim in all of us makes us label and maybe want to get labelled in return. I mean, I grin when people look at me in awe when they find out I'm a snowboarder. As long as the labels we get slapped on are nice, then we're cool. If it ain't, we rebel.

Freud's possibly right.

psychological catogorization. it's hwo the brain organizes information about people so that way in certain cases, the briamjust pulls the info liek a computer pulls a file out. thsi si also where we get stereotypes from.

the whole labeling thing is a bad habit we pick up from our parents and other adults we grew up around. think about it. little kids don't label people. when you were little your friend johnny across the street was just that...your friend johnny across the street. it wasn't until you got older that he became johnny the jock or weird goth johnny, or johnny that black kid. i think all that stuff is learned over time..kinda like racism and stereotyping people.

some times when people say a band blows, they have something to back it up... like they have put out 9 albums and have total sales of 8... that band prolly sucks. but mostly it is opinion but you also need to realize that majority rules and the winners write the history books... if you have off the wall music taste, the majority of people will say that they suck and that really is what matters because the music industy is just that... industrialized... controlled by marketing and image consultants who study demographics and trends and stuff... dont take that kind of **** personally.

I find it interesting that the people that say they do not stereotype are using other slanderous stereotypical words to describe the people they dislike so much. Its hard to make an argument such as that when you cannot leave these adjetives out of your own composition.

I don't get the need to label so many different music genres. I don't even know what kind of music emo is anymore, I've heard so many different things. Or hard rock. Nor do I care.

ya "emo" is like labeled by people and their own opinion of "emo"
it only has liek general "standards" [aka stereotype mainly being tight pants & "the" hair]

^^its soooo true. i hate the whole label thing, it just bothers me b/c there is no point to it. racism, stereotyping, labels, homophobia, and all that other junk is pointless and we need to get over it. be who u r and dont care what others think about u b/c u have ur friends and thats all u need........im bi and im proud so label me if u want, see what i care
