I don't like them either, but it seems unfair to associate them with the KKK. I'm also not a big fan of the Democrats, but they're by far the lesser evil nowadays.

A current senator from which party used to be a member of the KKK? Thats right, it is a Democrat.

Hate is such a strong word....I prefer to say I don't subscribe to many of their beliefs and ideas.....

/spotty's attempt to be more of a positive person

Since when did you join the dark side? :) hate a man for his beliefs, not for an affiliation. i have my reasons.

Well, I think the point is that a KKK member would most assuredly be a Republican....not all Republicans are KKK....sort of like my favorite line.....Not all conservatives are stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives.
I'm sure most, if not all, KKK members are republican. The south used to be democratic until LBJ (democrat) sided with civil rights during his election and the south switched over to republican. You can associate the KKK with republicans but it's kind of silly because the KKK started out as democrats and their beliefs don't directly tie in with either party. Associating the KKK with republicans just makes republicans look bad to unknowing people.
Most stupid people are conservative? I beg to differ my friend. I know more educated people that are republican/conservatives then democrats. Most of the democrats I know are uneducated and are easily influenced by the media.

Robert Byrd hasn't been a part of the kkk since 1943 (as he claims). Read my previous post, that might be the reason why he got out or maybe it was something else.

An observation I've made is that a lot of Democrats (and this is an observation, not meant to be a prejudice cause as soon as I say this someone will prove me wrong) call themselves as such because they don't want to take a hardline stance on anything. Republicans tend to be more devoted to their beliefs, as do Libertarians, Greens, Nazis, Communists, Socialists, etc. Democrats are fence-sitters. So to me, the Democratic party is the "safe" party. Fence-sitters are lame. Stand for something.

A good reason to join the Republican Party is so you can vote against the politicians you like the least. This is especially true if you think the Democrats have no chance of winning.
