I just got back from seeing it, and have to say, was quite pleased. Went into it, not knowing what to expect. With all the bad reviews, and then my buddy who saw it earlier in the day said it didn't follow the book hardly at all, I didn't really know what to expect. But I have to say, it kept my attention through the whole movie, and I honestly thought it followed the book pretty well. Granted it had its parts that were different, but what movie actually follows a book page for page? And apparently, it can't be that bad of a movie, when the theater was selling out at almost every show time. My friends and I actually had to wait for the next showing a half hour later cause of them only having 2 seats left when we arrived. But all in all, it was a great movie IMO, and I will buy it when it comes out on DVD. So if your into it, enjoyed the book, or anything like that, GO SEE IT!:thumb:x2

I'm holding back on seeing it because it's all so packed at the cinemas. I'll probably actually read the book again before going to see it.

And dude! Your signature! I hope that never happens to you! :)

i never read the book but i guess it was pretty good, only too long for my short attention span under the circumstances.

i'll prolly end up seeing it in the theater (which is rare for me - i usually wait for stuff to come out on dvd), but just cuz the theater is full doesn't mean it's a good movie, just that the producers have done a good job marketing it.

Just because every show time is selling out doesn't mean it must be good. I can name quite a few movies that sell out every show time and they are the crappiest trashiest movies (then again I do live in the cultural mecca of Philly known as the northeast). Anyway, I thought it was predictable all the way through. My friends and I had the entire movie figured out before the first half was over. And this is going in on absolutely no knowledge of the story or the book, aside from that it's based on gnostic gospels. And I knew a little bit about Opus Dei.

I read the book, which i loved about a year ago. Then i read it again about a month or two ago because i wanted to be updated for the movie. Usually good books make great movies... but honestly, this one kind of bored me. I felt like i was just sitting down and reading the book in picture. it was the exact same, everything was how i imagened in the book, and i practically fell asleep. I mean it was pretty well made and the concepts are cool... i just dont relaly know if i liked it. plus i would have been confused if i didnt read the book

seriously...i even predicted that the stuff that one dude drank from the flask was poison, and that he was going to die. and i have never read the book. and i was stoned. i mean, how predictable can it get.

i thought it was OK, not great. the book held my interest, but i thought the movie dragged.

well, it is fiction. it's just that it's fiction based on the gnostic gospels. which makes it fiction based on something that exists.

Well I seen the movie this weekend and I must say, if you have not read the book then go and see the movie first. The book is much, much better.

So I'm confused... Im a huge Da Vinci fan... He is basically the most amazing, artist/inventor ever... How does he tie into all of this?

And just as a side note, I was moderately dissapointed that it takes a movie for people to look more into the life of Da Vinci... I am referring to the audio voice recreation of Da Vinci and the mona lisa based on features and all kinds of other jazz...

They are using Da Vinci to build hype for this movie... doing new tests on his paintings... I hate how buzz influences things like this... But i guess if we can learn any more about Da Vinci from this spotlight, then I guess there is nothing to complain about.
