Scheduled to be released around June 28`th from Sony.

A documentary style movie about the life and death of GM`s electric prototype car the EV-1 which was leased by Californians. The film goes into the timeline of the developement and distribution of the vehicle and it`s success for a first attempt to ween the American motorist from the oil addiction. The film goes into detail about how big oil, the auto manufacturers and the Bush administration killed the program and the cars were taken by force in some cases from their owners and destroyed in the Arizona desert. Since that time, the same tactics are being used against hybrid vehicles by the same suspects. Thanks to big industry and lobbying, Capitalism is once again the greatest obstacle to energy sustainability and independence. Once again, Capitalism rears it`s ugly head to feed from the death and destruction of our biosphere like a bloated vampire!

Bollocks. The GM EV-1 died a slow and painful death and none too soon. The only way to acquire one was through GM lease that required a hefty security deposit (not to mention other fees) and a massive monthly payment (residual was next to nothing). Not only that but you weren't allowed to take the car out of state and the only way to get rid of it before the lease was up was to pay the remaining payments and give it back. Couple that with the fact that in AZ and SoCal it's so hot that the batteries don't get anywhere near the advertised range. I wonder how much of the "facts" they'll actually show in this film...

Probably about as many "facts" as Michael Moore tends to get right in any of his "documentaries". :dizzy:

I have too many examples about this topic to go into detail... but I agree completely.

it is so disgusting...

Even if you try to do something good, you will end up getting screwed. Screw big business...

Kind of like the movie "Chain Reaction" where the young scientist creates a working Cold Fusion reactor and the government and big oil destroy his lab and hunt him with intent on killing him.....wonder how much of that kind of thing actually happens in the dark alleys of our cities.....

I actually have stories about that... Except... they dont take place in dark alleys... They take place in everyday homes... its scary!

It even happened to my Grandfather.

lol, another movie... "twins" with DeVito and Schwarzeneggar... thats what they have chillin' in their trunk... It was a prototype sumthin-or-other... not a serious movie. But another movie.

don't forget Keanu's oscar winning performance

EV-1, the only 100% electric production car with 0-60 in 7 seconds
Not only problems with short battery life, but the logistics of setting up electric refilling stations were also a major problem

yeah I think you can charge off your house line but what if you are out to your favorite yuppy grocery store to buy your organic tomatos. But you forget to charge up and don't have enough juice to get back home?

Yah my dad helped weld and designed some other jazz on it... I dont know the specifics... The actual inventor was one of our neighbors. They used to test it out on our road... I think his nickname is the Killowatt.
