I'm the typical Metal lover with some hard-rock...Slipknot, Mudvayne, Korn, Killswitch Engage, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and all that kinda stuff...idk some of that stuff you might not consider metal

Anywho... a couple of good bands I've recently discovered are Soulscar (local death metal but not too brutal :smile:), Insomnium (Finnish death metal like In Flames), and Sweet Sorrow (more death metal)... I also enjoy odd metal such as Nightwish, Elvenking, Finntroll, Therion, and power metal such as DragonForce, Dream Evil, HammerFall, Manowar, and Sonata Arctica.
In fact, I think I like almost all types of metal! ^___^

In Flames are melodic death. Straight Gothenburg just like Soilwork, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy, etc. The fact that they're sound has changed over the last few in no way negates their status or genre. Listen to old and new Amorphis or Katatonia if you want to see a huge difference in heavy.
