^ Well its got spiderman covered in black goo but it isn't steroid induced enough to be Venom and doesn't look like Carnage. Hobgoblin also looks to make an appearance as well as Eric from that 70's show.

my thoughts: i couldn't view the trailer so this is all just based on things i heard about the new movie. spidey has the black costume in this one. and apparently one of the villains is just a normal dude for most of the movie. so i'm kind of thinking it would make sense that there's a dude (eddie brock) that's kind of like peter parker's archnemesis throughout the movie, toward the end something happens to spidey's black costume and it forms the symbiotic relationship with eddie brock and they go after spidey. also, in ultimate spiderman, eddie brock isn't a big dude. so possibly topher grace plays him. and possibly what you saw in the trailer is venom, just not the normal one you're used to.

^ Perhaps. Every copy of spiderman I read as a child and can remember Venom was huge carnage was the normal sized one.

yeah that's the original spiderman stories. but in these newer "ultimate spiderman" venom's a normal size dude. however, after seeing the trailer i'm not sure about my theory. it would be funny if topher grace played dopple spiderman from the infinity wars. that wouldn't happen though. sandman looks cool. and i wonder if that's hobgoblin or green goblin.

^ Ah well thats what I get for not picking up an issue of spiderman that post dates 1992. I got lucky and found an original collection of spiderman from issue 1 till sometime around 88 in my friends attic.

spiderman wore a black suit that was originally an alien life form that bonded with him. then the suit jumped from him to eddie brock (who topher grace plays) and then he becomes spiderman's nemesis. while they don't show the big bulky snarling long tongued venom in the trailer... i think one can assume that since "eddie brock" is in the movie and there's a black suit, venom will be coming around.

Like I said, If you check IMDB... the plot information actualy STATES that Spidy will be battling Sandman and VENOM.

i heard a whole argument before over topher grace playing venom...apparently in the comics venom was a skiny guy at first, then the suit took over some huge guy later. i always just thought he was the gigantic one.

i haven't read the comics in years, but according to some movie website messageboard i was skimming through, in some "ultimate spider man" comic, venom is a normal sized guy. i have no idea if that's true or not.

when i first heard that topher grace was going to be in the movie, i thought the bad guy would be carnage... since topher grace would make the perfect carnage. but whatever sony is coming up with, i'm sure will kick ass.
