i play bass and guitar. my rig is an american fender transparent blue telecaster and B-52 double tube combo.
my bass is just a fender p-bass.
and the acoustic i play (not really mine, but i play it alot) is a 1960somethin fender KING acoustic (valuable).
if you practice alot on acoustic it really improves your electric skills.

punk is played with distortion 95% of the time. however, there are some cases, for instance, the dead milkmen, where very light distortion, or no distortion is used. i would say just do what you think sounds good. use heavy distortion or no distortion, just use what sounds good to you. or switch distortion intensity around and just do whatever.

I'm just starting to learn to play the guitar and I'm so STOKED! It's a lot harder than it looks, but I think that's why it appeals to me. I'm such a n00b tho, it's so sad. I'm having fun though, so I suppose that's what counts

ya once you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun.
i need a new strap for my bass. the one i have now keeps coming off.
and once i didnt catch it and it hit my concrete floor and took off all the paint down to the wood on the head of the guitar. i was so pissed.

learning to read music and understanding music theory will help you write your own stuff.
Also for you lead guitarists who are stuck in "the box", this will help you learn how chord structure and scale progression are one in the same and you will break out of this box!!
Its easy to teach yourself to read music, just have to take the time to do it. =D
xVT. RIDERx
07-09-2006, 01:49 AM
yea...i think i want to take music theory now...lol, i'm trying to write a song, with two months experience on guitar, but i know a bunch of chords...so...yea...i'll prolly fail miserably, but oh well...i wrote some amazing lyrics for it tho.

07-12-2006, 05:14 AM
acustic is nice but i really like electric
you can make some many difrent sounds
you can control the sound more
like acousitc to get a diffrent sound you got to get a diffrent guitar
electric its a twist of a nob
but i do like having an acustic nice when you try and write a slower more meaning full song and stuff and you can take it every were 2 boot
szaarh
07-12-2006, 05:17 AM
ya te possiblities for a electric are great plus all the technocol thing u can add and what not. its great
just the orginality of an acoustic and like you said you can take it everywhere. its nice.

Yeah, I think I'll have to say I like acoustic better just because I do like that kind of sound and the whole portable thing works too.
Scenario:
You're a homeless person and your only means of getting money is people throwing money in your guitar case. Acoustics have bigger cases to fit more money AND you don't need an amp or anything. So the score tallies out to this:
Homeless person support guitar
Acoustic-1 Electric-0
Come on now, gotta face the numbers

hahaha, i'm into the coolest crowed ever, i know girls that play piano, drums, and guitar. though the one that plays guitar is the only one who really knows how to play their designated instrument. lol. but yea it does depend on the guy. i'm personally into more "bohemian" girls if you will, (at first i thought that was like Jamacian, but my friend rose explained it meant someone who doesn't go along with the masses and tries to be different), so yea. other guys like ditzier chicks. lol. enough about me tho lol, i kinda feel like i'm sharing too much...oh well...i'm an open book.
szaarh

just keep playing, it's all about the finger strength.... and the groove... it's more about the notes you don't play....
play a little bit before the beat to drive a song rock, punk) and a little bit after for an R&B backbeat feel....
pour rubbing alcohol on your callouses to dry them out....
that's it for now...
