Well i know CASI has a cooler intro on their website then AASI instructors do =(
But I assume its roughly the same way as we do it down here in the US. I'll break this down simply.
1. Get hired on as a candidate snowboard instructor at your local hill.
2. Train with the current instructors and teach a year as a candidate.
3. Devlope your own lesson and instruct.
4. Prepare for your level 1 test by using this new information learned and study materials. (level 1 is pretty easy doenst take much studying)
5. Pay your dues and take your test.
6. Return to your hill as a certified instructor and start advancing your riding and career as a snowboard instructor! =D
So build your resume, and scan through the other threads in this area to get a feel for being an instructor... its not for everyone... its really not. If your looking for a free lift pass to your local hill i would advise against becomming an instructor. Thats why we do a candidate program... so people can get a feel for it before they start shelling out $$ to get certified.

I just saw your other post... so i take it you've been teaching for awhile. I'm pretty sure everything is roughly the same. Check out the CASI website a bit and find out when and where they are testing...
If you're hot sh*t at your hill as an instructor sometimes the hill will pay your first set of dues and such for you =D
I might have to go get CASI certified just so i can say my certification page has a cool intro =(

Its the same way in my ski school... i will hire someone who is 16 to teach level 1 stuff, but until they are 18 i wont send them to get certified... insurance reasons kinda.

heh local mt... sorry thats funny to me... I used to live in Eagle-Vail, now I'm back home in Iowa. I'm the head snowboard instructor / terrain park designer / team capatian at www.skisnowstar.com
yeah i would deffineatly hire someone who already has a certification. Because i know they are serious about their teaching. Where as some of the High School and college candidates i get are simplying looking for a lift ticket and cheap gear.

CASI certification anyone can take as long as they pay the fees and do the clinics. You don't have to have any teaching experience to get your certification. That's the difference between AASI and CASI. In AASI you have to have teaching experience to get certified, usually 10 hours.

This season I'm going to go for my Level 1. I took a volunteer course at my local hill that they set up, because I was way too young at the time...

practice YOUR presentation of a lesson... You dont have to memorize the book. Put your personality into your lessons... Thats the biggest problem I have always had trying to express this fact to my candidate instructors.
Good luck... and HAVE FUN with it. If you arent having fun... your lessing isnt having fun.

YAAAYYY!!! The certification age for CASI level has been lowered down to 15!!!! And I heard that you can get your level two at any age now...provided that you have your level one of course.
