Well a minority of y'all will know that i fractured my wrist on the first day of aussie snow season, skateboarding

Besides the fact that I hadnt skateboarded for about 6 years and I chose a great time to do it, I got my cast off today and im going up snowboarding this weekend

Anybody else who has fractured their wrist? Save the posts about 'my friend did his and said it hurt' for a rainy day kids,

Chanks

I broke my left wrist twice. Broke it the first time when I was 9 on my first day out...fell backwards. My cast was on for 4 weeks but the second time I broke it my cast was on for 6 weeks. I guess that's pretty short compared to the 3 months I was out for shattering my ankle.

good luck with the heal

I've come close a lot of times to breaking my wrist, however the last time that happened i ended up with a twisted wrist and it felt just as horrible as breaking it because of tendon damage.. i couldn't move it for a couple weeks without some sort of aweful pain.

and now, nearly 5 years later... it still gives me problems :/

Yeah, I fractured my wrist skateboarding many years ago. It didn't hurt till like three days later while I was playing football and I tried to throw a pass. I heard a crack followed by excruciating pain.

I thought I broke my wrist (and a few ribs) at the beginning of this past season my first or second time out. I was having a hard time picking it back up because it was only my second season and I only started about halfway through the previous one. But it sucked.

Yep, I have a metal plate & 8 screws in my right wrist (happened about 4 years ago, but never could afford to get them out). The best part: I called in to work to go ride Red Mountain, N.M. and when I said I wouldn't be in, my boss said 'no'. Sooo...I had to get REAL creative to explain how I broke my wrist and would not be coming in at all to work (since I was sitting in the E.R.) I told them that the "family emergency" at my out-of-town aunt's house had upset me so much I tripped on some stairs and fell on my wrist. (I even managed to tell the doctor's the same story so my med. records backed me up - they paid me disablility for the time I couldn't work and BELIEVE me, they look for every reason they can not to pay it - the "I broke it snowboarding when I was supposed to be working" just wasn't gonna fly). Basically, the break happened b/cz there was only a 20 inch base & I was trying to land a jump and didn't...so I tried to break my fall & broke my wrist instead. It still hurts every now & again and my orthopedic surgeon told me I can look forward to arthritis later in life. BUT...once it was casted I just pulled my glove over the cast & went riding on the disability money! = )

Try this out for a story I go to killington get a great day of riding in with a ton of friends. The next day its only Jan 9th its the third run of the day so we decide to go to the begginer park and mess around. I go to nose press a 10ft box catch an edge on a bad weld as my board starts to turn and go shoulder first to the ground shattering my collarbone in half. Then after being too bored to live two weeks later a massive storm hits dirty jeerz with 16 inches so i come up with the bright idea to build a 6ft quaterpipe to mess around on in my backyard. After I hit an easy three i decide im gonna try a five catch my back edge on the lip and rebreak it. Then my friends are planning to go to sugarbush for the weekend right before i get cleared. The doctor says he cant get me in until the monday after so my mom wont let me go on the trip and sugarloaf gets about 22-26 inches and i miss the best riding on the east coast the entire season.

yeah i broke my wrist in both places (radius and ulna)...it suucked sooo much. It hurts evertime the weather changes really suddenly like when a storm is coming something to do with the barometric pressure i think. But yeah i had a Pink cast for 6 weeks an the day after i got it off i was out snowboarding lol

Right wrist = 4 weeks in a cast plus 2 months in PT. Gotta love skateboarding. But that's not as bad as what happened a last season ago at Winter Park while practicing for the Dark Territory tryouts!

I suffered a compound frature of my right humerous as a result of a backside rodeo gone really wrong. I ended up stalling while upside down and somehow came down on the knuckle and *WHAM* broke it right in half.

The bone borke in half right in the middle up my upper arm. the top half tore out of my skin and the bottom (from the break all the way down) just flopped there. I couldn't move it at all since it wasn't attached. Ski patrol immobilized it and brought me to the WP hospital. They said it was so bad I needed surgery and was ambulanced into Denver for surgery.

When all is said and done: 1 8" Titanium Pate, 7 Screws, 8 months of Physical Therapy, 10% perminate rango of motion loss and 50% strength loss.

I'm still on the hills but not aggressive like I used to be. No more comps for me, just teaching. Check out the attachment .. it's of my arm after surgery with the plate and screws in place.

I've fractured my right wrist, twice. It totally sucked, but when I first broke it I got to choose this kick ass camoflauge cast! But eh...I forgot how long I was in the cast......

Yep, I fractured mine season before last snowboarding. I was in a cast for 6 weeks and then had to go through about a month and a half of physical therapy to get my range of motion back.
