Anyone have a recommendation on a good PARK (read: twin shape, twin flex) board for women? I'm like a 144-146 size, so it's almost impossible to ride a guy's board (unless it's a kid one, haha). I don't think I've seen many true twin boards for women, most have directional flex. Roxy has one I think, but I refused to become a Roxy girl. Any other brands you know about?

Roxy's new boards are actually pretty good. They're manufactured by Mervin, who also put out Lib Tech and Gnu. The Ally won the Transworld Good Wood this year, and it's a pretty sick looking board. Also check into the Ride Fever and the Burton GTwin, which both have twin shapes. The Rome Vinyl is also a really sweet park board. I don't think it has a twin shape, but you might still take a look at it.

I guess the main problem is that just because they have a twin shape doesn't mean they're true twin boards... most are directional twin shape, or have directional flex (look at the specs on the roxy ally). I want like... a Forum Destroyer, only smaller... people need to make more women's boards! :(

The Arbor Stance is marketed as a true twin... that's the only one I can think of.

Have you ridden a true twin board? I would do some demoing... the Roxy Ally looks like it would be worth taking out for a test run... I don't know how much of a difference "directional flex" is going to make in your riding.

Also, if you want the Forum Destroyer, look at the Forum Craft fom women. It has the same shape and practically the same flex.

If you really want the Destroyer, try to demo it in the 148. That size board should work just fine for you, based on your height and build.

bit odd that you're fixated on this true twin thing... I thought you just started riding last year? how many types of boards have you even tried?

Burton GTwin.... Last year, they only had this in a 151. This year, they should have more sizes.

What SnoChica and Fae said  I would def check out the Burton GTwin and the Ride Fever (It's the female version of the amazing Ride DH) if I was you. I've heard amazing things about both. Can you tell which boards I've been drooling over? ;)

If you are looking for a solid park board for a woman, check out the 06-07 Atomic Fallen Angel...it is the woman's version of the hatchet and is solid in park and pipe. Plus it's not expensive and for the price, the quality is exceptional.

no no, she must have a tiny board to prove she's skinny and tiny and girly. so when guys ride next to her on the lift they can go "damn, that's a small board."

I demo'd the Roxy Ollie Pop when I was at camp, and it's a great park board..especially on jumps and stuff...lots of flex for rails too. It comes in a 145 so I guess it fits what you are looking for.

Yes yes, I demand a thread about camp, Sara!

Quoted for truth

I've heard so many amazing things about the Hatchet in the park, it's counterpart should do the same job. Plus, the graphics are so sick on it this year, and for a very reasonable price? Hell yeah.

Yeah it should retail around $329 so if you get in there quick, most shops will have early deals. I doubt you'll find this board at the end of the season because of the hype it's getting and the want for a girls park board that kills it.

For park, all true twins:
- Ride Fever 144
- Rome Detail 14iforget
- Nitro NYX 146

I haven't been on a Fever [duh, it's just comin out], but I know lotsa boys who ride the dH n swear by it. The Detail is like the Artifact- so freakin sweet, but be careful if u wanna take it out onto the mountain for freeriding- u may die. Not really, but it's just super soft, n u gotta be careful when u land ur jumps, esp in the backseat. The Nitro I've taken out a bunch, n I looooooove it. It's a solid board for both park n just all mountain riding. It's a little wider in the waist area, but I just really love this board.

If u want this board for the park, u def want it a lot smaller than what u typically would ride. My board is a 49, n I'm gonna be pickin up a 44 [or smaller] soon.

OT- my friend designed the top sheet for all of the 06 Roxy boards. =]

i know burton has the lux which is a twin.. i havent really looked into it but just a suggestion.. the gtwin as well g'luck

yea, the lux is a directional stance though. so it's not really a twin board. and the gtwin is soooo ugly this year, or else i'd get it. haha.

I keep checking Atomic's website for when they update it with the 07 products!

Thanks also for the list BadassBunny. - Yea lots of my friends swear by Ride DH too. i'll only using the board in the park so you also make the Rome seem especially attractive with its softness :) it's hard to find small boards, huh! haha. I ride a 147 and that was really annoying to ride in the park with the length. The Roxy Ollie Pop does seem uber-cool cuz it has an extra-wide stance option though too! and its purdddyy. Eeee! haha!

Ok so I have size 9 feet. I was told that I need to get a wider board because my feet hang over to far, what is considered wide. If I get wider board should it be shorter?

BadassBunny

^ If have wide feet n ur interested in a park/freestyle board, check out the Nitro NYX. It's got a slightly wider waist area. No, u don't need it shorter.

nikatsu- u would LOVE the Detail then- it comes in a 143- http://www.romesnowboards.com/product/boards/detail/ :)

What does it mean when a board is a twin?

Proximate Platypus
08-19-2006, 07:16 AM
twin tip is when the nose and tail are the same, and the t-nuts are centred on the board... which help make park and switch riding easier.
........
But what's the difference between directional and twin flex (in terms of construction), and how do each perform differently? If anyone knows, that would be helpful.

nikatsu
08-19-2006, 09:41 AM
directional flex has soft tip and stiff tail, good for doing jumps and pipe. if you're doing a lot of switched jumps and such, you'll probably want a twin flex, so that you experience the same pop and landing no matter which way you're riding.

Ooh I heard good things about the WWW from this one chick in the powderroom. I didn't know they made smaller sizes either. Is it a wider kind of board though? I thought I rememberd reading that somewhere, but of course I could be wrong. I don't know, I usually don't look at guy's boards because I want to support the womens snowboard industry, you know?

Mmmm I'm looking at it right now. You know, I can't decide if it's better that I don't have the money for a new board so I don't have to decide on one, or worse because I have to keep drooling over them :pout: :p

The WWW looks good for as much as I can tell from the website  Can you tell me more about it sammyrae?

The main thing that keeps me distracted away from the Girls Boards are the horrid designs. Most of it is bloody butterflies and stars and pastel swirly crap. C'mooooon.
Edit: Which ties directly into this thread (http://snowboardaddicts.com/showthread.php?t=2164) on further browsing.

I'm all for the idea of Girl Boards, they are great for the typical chicky rider - shorter and smaller than guys - so the specs are specific to someone of that size. But really I'm 5'8 and 70+kg so I'm nearly as big as some of the guys I know. So I'm in no way surprised that most girls, particularly those who've been riding for a while, just choose guys/non-gender specific boards!

Basically if you buy a guys or a girls board your still supporting the girls industry no matter what, if your out there riding its helping!!

What do you want to know about the board.....basically its a jib board whether you ride in the park or noticing your from WI maybe you hit the streets also--im not sure how well it is on jumps and free riding since we havent gotten snow yet but very nice with the rails!! the longer edge makes for a more smooth style of riding its the effective edge (which is the part of your board that is on the snow when you carve). The waist width or width of the board between your feet is around 24 which is about an average for girl boards.

If you are really interested in this board in a 147 let me know, I can get my hands on them but quick because the shops are selling out of these fast!! i sound like im a K2 rep haha.

Ooooooooook. I'm REALLY late joining this party, but I hope my input isn't too late. Take a look at the Atomic Fallen Angel. A jibberific board. Also, the Arbor Stance is kiiiiick ass as well! It WILL be a bit on the stiffer side though...because that company focuses more on the freeride aspect.
