I was thinking, since I am gonna start building my own computer, but I was thinking, anyone build a laptop? Is it possible, how much harder is it? It seems like itd be really tricky/hard to do, was just wondering if anyone has ever done this?

I remember back in the day you were able to, it was really tough though. I mean there were a lot of issues though with everything not fitting. But I think the best bet is just to buy one. I have an HP at home and its good although the battery doesnt work anymore, and an Lenovo(Techniclly IBM but its really not the same) and they are both decent. I do like the HP better though.

>.<

HP, Compaq, Dell are all EVIL companies who make inferior craptastic products. Evil. I hate them like Snowboarding Wannabe kids adopt a hate-on for Burton products to be cool.

Well, the Sony Vaio's are generally better then the others. At least in my experience. Gateways actually aren't that bad. My current laptops are a Sony and an Acer, and the Sony definitely outperforms the Acer despite being a little older.

Mostly, I just can't stand HP and Compaq. I've never seen a single computer built by either company that runs even modestly well. I just lumped Dell in with them, although they aren't really anywhere near as incompetant.

Oh, and Mac laptops are the bomb. I think depending on what happens shortly here with some of the new **** coming out my future laptops might be Mac's.

idk toshiba is pretty bad ass and i had a computer teacher that said hp's were really good and she was a computer techy for like 10 years before she started teaching i think pretty much anything can be good if you put the right stuff in it

right... but what separates computer companies is that some of them put craptastic parts in their computers because craptastic parts are a lot cheaper. dell sells a $10,000 machine that has top of the line everything... but the average consumer isn't going to want to pay $10,000 for a top of the line machine. they just want something that works and is within their price range. inside, all consumer level computers are pretty much the same... pentium this, 15.4" screen that, 512mb ram or 1gb. whatever. dell and compaq aren't going to be putting crucial ram inside their machines. they all use the same junk. but other factors like the batteries and stuff make certain companies machines better than others... differnet companies use different vendors for all of the "other" parts.

also, different companies put their own crappy software on the machines, further bogging the machines down. like dell - my mom bought a consumer level dell and they had all of this bullshi* software on it. my dad got an IBM and it had next to nothing on it. needless to say, the IBM ran a lot faster.

as for myself... i use a powerbook, and i will never willingly buy a PC laptop again. i was visiting my folks last weekend and they were talking about buying new computers and i suggested a macbook pro for my dad and an imac for my mom. since macbooks can run windows, i see no reason for it to not be usable as a business machine.

well then why is there such a long thread? lol i mean not trying to be a smart ass but there are like 5 threads about how certain computers suck... if you don't like your computer drop the money cause you get what you pay for same as everything else
