There are so many different flavors in snowboarding, how do you hold it down? Gansta, emo, tailored, matching.. or you got your own sick style?

the pants are pretty tight and nothing is baggy or saggy, but i like to do a combo. of tailored and gangster. like wearing a basketball jersey under the black hoodie while wearing the tight pants. with a wide stance of course. and i listen to rap really loud on the drive to the mountain and sing along and say "unhhhh yeah gangsta" and "word g" etc. when a trick is landed

If your going to wear matching plaid that really sticks out, I expect you to be good.
I wear black snowboard pants, cheapest they had, and a black / gray convert jacket and a dark green helmet (it matched my old coat, but why buy another one?) with some white/gold goggles and black dakine gloves.. Total cost - $220, but my mom bought me the helmet...
I'd rather spend my money on lift tickets than $600 Burton outfits...

I love that logic. It's like saying to someone, "If you're going to wear a nice expensive suit, I expect you to be an executive at a company."
What you wear on the hill and your skill level aren't linked, period. You can be awesome and wear plain gear, you can suck and wear plaid. It's ridiculous for someone to think, "Well gee, I haven't mastered the park yet, so I guess I can't buy this jacket that I really really like." Seriously. People should be able to wear what they like and ride without having to worry about someone telling them they haven't "earned" it yet, or whatever other nonsense. If someone who sucks wants to stick out on the hill, that's their choice.

Sometimes it's not about style, it's about warmth and staying dry. For example, sometimes people buy expensive stuff because it's good quality. I said SOMETIMES because >$ does always = >quality. But sometimes that warm, higher end gear is also stylie. And so, people end up with steezy gear because they wanted to be warm and dry. It has nothing to do with ability. It has everything to do with NOT looking like a skier though.

I've got some "SNOW GEAR" trousers, a kind of dark brown with orange stripe on the sides... I bought them from a TCM store...cheap actually, and black underwear ( long pants and blouse ) , a snow suit ( jacket and trousers ) " HEAVY TOOLS", indefinite colour, one of those camouflage but spotted twirly, spalshed models, grey with black and a bit of dark brown... teflon material...very dry indeed and comfy and warm...a bit expensive but it was worth it :)
TCM socks up to my knee, TCM snowboarding gloves, really cool and goggles UVEX, cheap and really good for fog or windy athmosphere.
POLARTEC blouse and that's about it

funny, when i saw this post, i thought it was about actual riding style, not style of dress.
so, i could give a rat about how i look. i just want to ride. anyone who has a problem with it can say it to my face (oddly, i do ride alone a lot). let the girls choose their gear based on what matches what.
don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with tight looking gear, as of course i put some thought into what i chose and i do look pimp, but worrying about how you look and being trendy in southern california and not focusing on riding is just lame.

to me it seems that the people who are willing to buy a new outfit for $500 are the same people that have to do it every year to get "this" years model. seems to me like throwing money down the ****ter
I love that logic. It's like saying to someone, "If you're going to wear a nice expensive suit, I expect you to be an executive at a company."
And May I ask what is wrong with that logic? Usually people who work construction don't wear expensive suits, and people who sit in an office and
go to important meetings wear stained carhart...
When I see someone with a nice expensive suit on I think "he be a well distinguished buisnessman /must do good for himself"
What you wear on the hill and your skill level aren't linked, period. You can be awesome and wear plain gear, you can suck and wear plaid. That is their choice, and its my choice to hate them for it!
But I'm saying why would anyone want to spend $800 on an outfit so they can stick out so everyone can watch them eat **** casing the 15 foot table ... It just seems like its not how you ride, or how much you ride, or how much fun you have while you ride, its how you look...
If you want to waste your money - go for it.
Pluss the fact that along with the throwing down loads of cash just to look cool comes the added bonus of being a cocky bitch.
at least thats my experience..

Yeah, I have black on black on black too. Black jacket, black pants, black boots, black gloves, black helmet. It is not that I chose this much black..it was what was available in the store for the outerwear I wanted. I am never able to find Sessions stuff in any of the stores near me so when I found some 30k waterproof pants and a 20k jacket..I was all over it.
As for this earn your colors thing..what are beginners supposed to do? Buy crappy gear for the first few months (what if they're new to riding but pick it up quickly or go riding a lot) or however long it takes them to get good..then go buy new stuff even though their old stuff is good? That's not right.

nothing wrong with being trendy either really. snowboarders are usually younger active people, who like to party, go to clubs, concerts, etc.
being trendy is just naturally a big part of it, as appearance is very important at these places, especially when wanting to impress friends but mostly the opposite sex. say versus a weeknight at the bowling alley. unless youre bill murray and have a rose in a clear bowling ball, or a hook for a hand.
suffice to say it probably isn't a coincidence that as i started to care less about appearance, looking for the next party or club went with it. not even looking to date right now either. it's all about the sport.
btw, i stay bone dry in my $20 clothes. i know what to buy, but most importantly i don't fall as much.

my style is one of my favorite snowboard park quotes
easy style it.
i love it, as for outerwear, i wear airblaster and obnoxiously bright colors. This season pink pants and a white jacket, next season the yellow airblaster jff pant with the turquoise jacket by airblaster, i forgot its name though. haha. im so stoked on the season

depends on the conditions, here in CHI/WI area sometimes we get some warm days so i love to board in my black pants and a long sleeve shirt. but if its decently cold ill put my grenade jacket that is white/black. but i gotta match...

If i'm not in my instructor jacket. I'm in a button up workshirt. Pants, i keep matching with my instructor jacket for professionalism. But when its hot or i'm just screwing around in the park... its rockabilly punk for me.

I don't have a "style"
I just mix and match.
Grey Westbeach Pants., with barely visible print pattern on them. Certainly not visible to anyone standing more then 2 feet away from me.
Cream Burton Pants.
Cream Arson pants with Light Green Print.
Green jacket with White and Grey on it
Black and Grey jacket
Black Helmet
White Scott goggles
Green Oakley Goggles

My gear isn't baggy, just don't like the feel. Other than that, I like the plaid(depending) and twill/hemp gear. First tho is whatever doesn't smell. Usually just My Spy Soldiers, T, Sessions Waterproof Hoodie, and Session Pants. I def. go celtek for gloves tho.

tight-ish jeans (not emo tight) or gray bonfire pants when its cold (also tight). bandana eather on the face or in the back pocket (depending on the weather). as far as tops go, it all depends. i have this argile sweater i wear sometimes, but i also wear bright coloured hoodies. when it comes to jackets i have a Tan bonfire and the blockletter one in gray and black that they sold last year.
so idk what style that is. ha..

pretty tight sewn-in snowpants, either brown or olive green. and a black xl (because im tall) h&m jacket if its cold. if its not so cold then usually a hoodie or something.
i guess its like a jon kooley look, just because im definitely no emo kid.

I wear sewed in holden pants that are super tight or just women's medium holden pants...with tall Ts
