Boots... no question. If they don't fit right, have too much heal lift, don't give enough support, or don't keep your feet warm & dry, it'll be a bad day on the mountain.

They're all pretty important I guess. A board that chatters or has lost it camber is no fun to ride. Bindings that break suck too. But I would have to agree, boots are probably the most important. It is sure to ruin your day if your feet are cold, wet, or you have pressure points or heel lift.

I was going to say IMPACT SHORTS....But boots is probably the best bet I would hate to have crappy boots!!

Impact Shorts! I forgot about those! Those things are horrible! I've never seen a pair just ads. I can't image riding with those, why don't you just wear a diaper? Baby. That has got to be the worst product in snowboarding.

It's the worst product in snowboarding until you end up in the hospital getting an x-ray of your tailbone.

I was thinking boots as well... but then I thought about it and now I'm going to go with helmet. I've gotten 7 concussions in the last 2 years from snowboarding. And now because I don't know what I'm doing because that's in accurate, because people don't know what they are doing. Like when someone calls "dropping" and someone cuts you off... Yeah and when people cut you off when you're just riding in general. Very dangerous things. That's why I love my helmet.

id say bindings cause crappy bindings that are just going to break arent any fun especially if ur stuck on the mountain when they break.

Biggest necessity not really gear...CHAPSTICK! I tend to lick my lips etc....very bad!!!!
But otherwise, I say boots....and some really good anti-fog goggles....

the board... you're going no where without the board... quite literally at that. like i can hop on a board without boots and bindings, though it'd be pretty hard to control myself, but hey... i'd rather just have that board than be trying to slide down the mountain in my boots.

Yeah, I would agree with gloves. I could snowboard naked and I'd still have to bring along a pair of gloves.

yo if your doing more than just riding, like tricks and ****, i think that the most important gear is balls. i dont see how you could do naything wihtout a set?

Amen to bindings. I can deal with cold hands or that one part of your boot that stabs into your foot. When your binding are cheap, they stretch when you try and carve, but your board stays flat on the ground. It could really mess up your timing.
I'd say the most important piece of gear is a lift ticket, ya hiking is great and all but I usally do that once I'm already to the top of the lift. some how I don't think I could climb the 4.2 thousand feet at jackson hole...(god I love the tram there, 4.2k ft in 8 and a half minutes, does it get better?)

ive got two...boots: my feet have to be comfortable...i cant stand having cramped feet or bruised heels from landing hard on ice...the other is goggles...if i have uncomfortable goggles that fog up or that are cracked or where the padding is coming off of the back it screws me up...i hate when my vision is messed up by bad goggles

id say the board. without that. your nowhere. look at early boards. soemtimes they dident have bindings. and boots are worn wether your boarding or not, may not be the same. but there still boots.

Alright, every peice of equiptment that you use and wear are crutial, if your board sux then you are going to be **** becasue your bord is bad. If your bandings are broken or something is wrong with them you can seriously hurt yourself or someone else becasue they are not responding how you want them to. your boots, probably the most crucial of all, one if they dont fit you can slip around in them or your feet can be crushed, second if they dont keep your feet warm you can get frostbite. If one thing is wrong with the hard goods then everything is wrong with your bord.
Now to the Outerware, Your outerware needs to keep you wark and comfortable, and you can just be a disaster if you have horrible steeze.
I'm feelin' the board...
You could use duct tape for bindings and regular shoes for boots.
It would suck, but what's your board replacement?
A lunch tray?

Id say board because uhh.. you know, you kind of need it to snowboard.
Besides boards, boots, and bindings, I would say pants, nothing like having a wet ass from the lifts all day.

a board of course! snowBOARDing. i remember back in the day riding my friends' Sims switchblade and Burton Backyard wearing some hightop Nikes with trash bags over them to keep your feet dry, on the hill behind my house!...so it's definately not the boots! i say the board, with bindings coming in a close second!
What do you guys think is the most important, board, boots, bindings, something else?
really...really now...you have your boots and bindings...if that is it you really are not going to get very far...The board is the key to the sport of snowBOARDING however if you look at it that way i guess snow would be a big piece of it as well...you could look at snow as the most important thing...yeah...

2 of the most important things...
1-music...cuz its allot better ridin with somethin to keep you stoked
2-boots...if they arent tight enough...you cant turn good..or well as good....

How about some snow???
Without which there wouldn't be snowboarding???
Back to the topic though, I'd say gloves. Good, dry gloves. Nothing worse than trying to strap in with fcuking frozen fingers.

i have a question that is somewhat similiar, so i'll ask it here,
i have been renting boards for about 6 or 7 years, so i am used to equipment that is less than perfect,
i'm farely good, (one of the best of my group of friends)
this year i finally have some money, and i've basically stopped growing, so i think its time to buy some equipment of my own,
what one part should i buy, the rest of the board would be rented,
i have had busted bindings, split, and dealt with the terrible, boot that isn't exactly on par with my foot.,
the worst was last year they gave me a baseplate that was the wrong size, and i didn't notice till i was on top of the mountain 5 hrs from home.

Clothes are important to me because without them you would never snowboard no matter how much your gear kicked ass.
