wow you're hardcore and did make the right choice. i went through the modding phase as well, and took it to the extreme.. almost killing myself.
anywho, my thule rack that i got for free with my old integra luckily fit my new integra. i can fit 4 people, 4 boards + blanks, and a full trunk of gear in my little 3-door honda hatch.

(just curious....i have a truck so i just throw all my crap in the bed...)

yea thats one thing... i get a ton of wind noise.. and if its windy outside, its hrder to keep the car strait,.... but if i bought one of those yakima Fairings it is supposed to reduce wind noise and wind drag....

is that like a cap, to improve the aerodynamics of it?
johnnydigit

ya mine makes a lot of whistling noise through the rubber slits and holes. you cant hear much if you have everything closed. it changes the aerodynamics a lot, especially when you open the moonroof while driving. i haven't noticed a change in mpg though. i still get 25-30mpg with my 95 beater..

I actualaly stuck 6 boards + gear and 5 people for a hour drive, with weekend luggage in my camery.

how??
i doubt that.... unless the boards were all size liek 150 and fit sideways in the trunk.
my mom has a camry 2004 and theres no way we can fit more then 3 boards back there .. the smallest board out of our friends is mine and itsa 152// bigges is a 166

ya i dont think you can fit more than something in the 140's in most trunks. they must have been sticking out the window or something. i mean i can probably fit a circus in my car, but we're talking practical here. i always have a duffle bag, backpack, food bag, and dry clothes bag, yet some friends come with nothing or just a backpack.

157 m3
154 atlantis
154 rome anthem
151 k2 skyla
153 endeavour
i put the ride side seat down, place the 157 m3,154 atlantis, 153 endeavour on top of each other and slide it through. I flex my anthem and it pops right in, same with the k2 (going sideways at the end of the trunk. boots go in the inside of trunk

somewhat looks like that. So you have a people sitting in the back middle and back right seats. If you really want to crunch it, there's still enough room if you move up the driver seat to put someone at the edge of the back left seat (going down) basically just having thier back laying on the boards. and the 6th board sits back seat laps. It aint comfy for the additional but it's doable
most of the time I only do 4 boards and 4 people, but this one was an exception since we went with 6 people (with my gf living in riverside - 1 hour from me) we had to get 5 of us (+5 boards and picking up the 6th board in corona - 20 mins from ucr) to her place, then use 2 cars from there to mt high (40 mins from ucr) then we stayed at her house and partied on through the weekend - so we had to carry luggage too. blankets and dufflebags / backpacks.
so it's possible!

ah the rear seat fold down. thought you meant enclosed in the trunk. oddly some mercedes and other cars dont let you fold rear seats down.

I can probably put 4 boards (size 155 and lower..3 for sure, the forth is a maybe) in my trunk with out the rear seat fold down. However, I only actually fold down 1 seat. leaving 2 rear seats for people to sit.

the rack is the best way to go. i had some old powder hounds, but i stepped up to the fatcat6 since it will will truly hold 4 boards and my skis with extra room. if its windy outside, then i get a lot of wind noise.

you sure? does he only have one side of the holding racks or maybe he doesn't have the clearance to have one with bindings facing down? for 300$ it better hold 4. i saw a thule universal rack for like 150.

you may be right. dang that's a grip of money. good thing i got mine for free, plus the ski adapters and bike adapter. although one of the keys broke so i have to tie them secure with some rope. gotta see if thule replaces 16 year old keys..
for 500+ bucks i'd ghetto rig them suckers.

i read in a magaine that its terrible to have your board exposed to the air.
now i dont drive, pay for gas, a car, a roof rack, or my housing. but i still like the close top ones better plus you can use it for traveling with stuff outside of skiing and boarding.

try to find a used one. recycler, ebay, craigslist or especially on a message board specifically for your car. you can find anything on car boards.

nice! Although, with the stuff on top, your gas millage will still be some what sucky

i can tell no loss of mpg with my rack on, even when full. mpg is noticeably decreased when either there are 2-3 passengers, or i go to big bear which has lots of windy, steep roads and lots of traffic.

Are there any rack systems I can easily remove the brackets and crossbars off easily? I don't think leaving a rack on my car looks too good...

i did notice a decrease in gas mileage, but it wasn't much. it can get worse if it's really windy on the road.

actually i messed up. it's never really full unless there are passengers to fill it. so when i'm alone and it's empty, i haven't noticed a mpg change compared to before installing the rack.
