I was just wondering.. a guy at one of the snowboard shops told me that bindings have a life of about 60 days of riding. and boots have a life of 90 days. ive had my setup for 2 seasons now and this winter i dont plan on changing it because i feel its fine. is this guy just dumb or is he right? because i think if im paying 250 for burton mission greeds they better last a while. by the way. anyone have the new carbon fiber bindings from burton? how are they?

Not trying to step on anyone's toes, but I wouldnt doubt Burton bindings having a life of about 60 days. I doubt that though, with most bindings, boots. The only gear that you might be able to put a life on would be a board, and that all depends on the board, what it's meant for, and how hard it's been ridden. I've ridden 4 different pairs of bindings, for atleast 100 riding days each, except my flows I got this year, which have had about 40 days. But they all held up perfectly fine, and I've been riding the same k2 boots for about 250 days, and they could easily take another 250, I'm planning on getting a different pair though, because these are too stiff, made for big mountain, and I'm getting more into backcountry and freestyle. I think this guy was just trying to get you to think you're gear was just about shot.

Yeah 60 days doesn't seem like that much, but for Burtons, I'd say it's on par with what I've seen..
Ever hear of Nideckers...those would last you a few hundred hard days easy...I'm looking to find out exactly how many hundreds...Just need the snow back again.

I wouldnt agree with it. My whole setup was brand new last season, and I went 42 times and really put the board through hell. Through icy conditions out east, to 5 foot of powder in open bowls in Colorado. I see nothing wrong with my bindings, and they still feel very strong. I currently ride with Burton Cartels. I highly reccommend them. The high backplates give much better performance and response!!

60 days? my Flux Platinum SDRs have a good 130 days of riding on them and other than a few cosmetic scratches theyre in PERFECT condition so i dont know what that dude is sayin kuz i rode mine for 2 seasons and will ride them for another 2 seasons if they make it. as for the boots im not too shur. i had a pair of airwalks as my first boots and those lasted about 20 days n then died but i have osiris d3 boots now and theyre in great shape after 130 days (other than the smell)too bad osiris stopped makin boots. and too bad flux stopped makin the first sdr :(

I would say BS, I mean yeah besides maybe buying new straps and tighting screws. I would think they would last a little longer that 60 times to the mountain. I mean I board everyday and my Ride binding are fine.

Lets be honest here. Look at the materials. Like the last poster said, other than tightening screws and plastic straps that just take heavy wear, someone would need to explain to me how a binding gets "used up". I have cartels and other than the two items i have listed, there is little wrong with em. Yeah there is visual damage but thats just from me beating the hell out of them. I put in close to a 100 days this year and my bindings are fine.

Boots on the other hand, I run a pair of solomon F20's and while I love the tightness and fit, they are pretty worn so I don't know, I really think thats going to vary on manufacturer and material.

Just my 2cents.
