Ok I know that some of you here play some lax so help me out here. I pretty much suck at it so help me out here. I play attack i'm like almost 5'8" and about 124. So yea i'm skinny i'm workin on bulking up a little. Anyways anyone have any good tips on getting better at cradeling? I can't do that **** for my life. With the gloves on it is impossible for me. I deffinantly need to put some tape on my stick but is there any trick to the technique you guys have learned over the years? Thanks guys.

I was talking to my friend the other day about lacrosse and he says its basically a top hand motion. you keep your bottom hand still as a rock, but loose enough so the stick twists freely. with your top hand, move your stick across your body (its a lot of wrist action). then practice running doing that.

I have no clue if that helps or not. He's the lacrosse player, not I.

really what you need to do is find another guy that plays to help you out. its really really hard to learn on your own. when you tape your stick, dont go overboard with it. find out where your hands are most comfertable and put tape on in a swirl only right in those two places. you want to be able to move your hands around even with tape on it.

alright man, I've been playing lacrosse for 4 years now. Starting off can be diffiucult. But what you need to do is NEVER put your stick down, everytime your at your house keep it with you and mess around with it. I'm not kidding. If you do this you will get amazing stick handeling skills. but for now you don't really know how to cradle so you need Learn, and once you do, keep doing it over and over and over. Even after your totally sick of cradling. Getting someone to physically show you how is MUCH easier. I would look on youtube or something for the motion but what frostedtuxedos said was right. You need to keep your bottom hand still leaving it loose and your top hand should be about 90 percent up the stick and just pretend like your curling a wieght with your top hand leaving your bottom had down by your hip region. Just keep practicing and when you get it, never put your stick down. you'll devolop some nice style when cradeling if you do this.

since were tlking about playing experience. 5 years now 2 with a short stick 3 with a d-pole. set the stick in your fingers of your top hand while holding the bottom end loose. while curling your arm curl your fingers at the same time. like a bicep curl.

if we're really going into experience then 12 years now(yes since I was four). when cradling it s mostly with your top hand, though your bottom hand is important because if you keep it straight then you will have the ugliest cradle ever and the ball will consistently come out. don't cradle too hard either, you want to be fluent while doing it. the kid who said have a stick with you at all times is absolutely right. never go anywhere without it, except snowboarding

wall ball. the wall will never miss a pass. find a good flat concrete wall and throw couple hundred passes a day. first just throw, catch and stabilize your ball.

You have to feel the ball when your catching, the way i was tought was when u follow through, keep your stick there, then catch the ball where your stick released the ball, and pull it back and gently slow the ball down, when you catch it should almost sound silent. A lot of new players catch the ball in a cradle motion like snapping at the ball i guess, DON'T Snap your stick at the ball.

The cradle just takes practice, its really pretty easy to learn. All you have to do is keep your stick moving in a motion that will keep the ball pushed into the pocket, look at a couple lax movies on youtube and try to emulate what they do. The coaches I've had don't like it when people spin their sticks, they say "its fine when your hangin around, just dont do it in a game or practice."

good luck, just practice alot

theres a ball out there to help people with raquetball its like...idk...a ball with bumps on it so it doesnt just bounce right back but makes you move and really work

yea wall ball is really important for your overall play..or at least in the girls form of the sport
and idk if using both hands is as important, but as long as you're getting used to using your strong side, work on your weak side also
i taught my friend last year and told her to do this
this year she's basically guarenteed a spot on varsity
just a thought..

hahaha, I spin my stick all the time, it's a bad habit, but I only do when I'm standing around on the field. and sometimes with my weak side after catching. I used to spin it ALL the time tho.

oh yea and wall ball. deff good advice.

hmm I would deff play if your a soph cus I got moved up as a soph for the same reason and it was fun to play with people who are really good. it was also pretty scary, because I didn't want to mess up and look bad, but I liked it. I felt like I was amazing cus I got moved up and no one else did haha.
