does anybody do anything when they aren't riding to keep their snowboarding skills at top notch? What are some good things to do so that i'm still on top of my game when i hit the slopes (aside from not being a lazy couch potato)?

If it ever snows over here, the hill in front of my house is decent so I want to build a ramp. We'll see how that goes.

I'm a dork, sometimes I'll strap in my board with boots on and everything, then jump around my room. Hop on the futon like it's a rail and such, do manuals and see how long I can hold 'em, 180s whatever. Just hop around until I get all sweaty, then I realize I'm actually really lazy, and turn the TV back on.
Sounds weird but whatever, it has actually helped a little jumpin' on the futon...getting the balance right. Landing on my foot to pull a nose press and holding it for as long as I could, pretending that the rail was long or whatever.
I also work out my legs and abs/hips for more power. I should probably do it more often, but I do lunges, I'll hold something heavy and do them. Then there's the good old sit up, sideways on both sides. Running helps with stamina, but I'm way too lazy for all that commotion. If you're really that curious for details, ask.
wow...I'm a dork, at least I don't put it on video tape. That'd be just, creepy.

lol.. i thought i was a dork because i practice my 180's while standing around or whatever, but it definitely has helped. I like the idea of hopping on the couch with the snowboard. thanks for the ideas...

I've been thinkin of tryin mountainboarding for the summer. In case you don't know, its basicly a big skateboard with BIG all terrain tires, but you strap into it like a snowboard. I think I'll need more than a helmet for protection.

i surf all year round, it helps i guess.. it's kind of related to snowboarding. one of the reasons why i even started snowbaording. i also skateboard so it helps keep my legs toned during off season.
I play around on the tramp. But I play about 190 games of baseball through out the summer so you could say my legs are in shape!!!

the way i practice is keep in shape by running a few times a week and also i go freebording...which in my perspective is one of my fav ways to practice cause its in essence the same idea as snowboarding. you can carve and slide so i dont know what else is better. if you havent herd of them they are sort of like longboards in a way but check them out if you want at www.freebord.com

skateboarding is the best way i think, also the gym is always good to work on muscle mass so you don't get so tore up when you broke off on the snow. it helps a bunch actually. Helps to keep your endurance up too...

Hockey keeps me in pretty good shape and anysport with edges or boards keeps your balance pure. (Hockey, Skateboarding, Surfing)

all you need is an old skatboard deck or even your snowboard and a trampoline. i think you can put those together and figure soomething out. But thats only good for doing tricks and crap. During the summer, my friends and I go to the sand dunes and those work pretty well. But it hurts to fall thats for sure.

I take my snowboard outside and mess with 180's and butters alot. I have also been working on my nose press on my picnic table, I hop up and tryo to get the press. Once I get it i see how long I can hold it for, its pretty fun.

Other then lifting weights id go with wakeboarding i tried it once last year and loved it and im gonna start doing it alot this summer. If your looking to practice rails talk to a hockey rink and ask them if u can have some of their snow, they normally dont care then go find a hill and a rail.

by far skating and wakeboarding is the best, anything on a board really. i built a 12 foot long multi purpose ramp and when ever me and my buddys are desperate to ride we steal about 10 gallons of ice from the restruant my friend works at, set up a small launch to get you enough air to hit a 10 foot rail or box

^^ same... I just bought a huge 26ft trampoline and my summer vacation just started, so I am out there in my shorts w/ my board & boots strapped on doing 540's and 720's... I personally think there is nothing better than practicing on a tramp...

People do know that like.. just because your manualing and hopping in your living room it doesnt work? When your moving its alot different, you have to adjust your weight and pop differently when your moving compared to standing still in your living room.

fill a 2-liter bottle with water. duct tape the poop out of it. grab your skate deck and start balancing! work your way to balancing on your nose or tail then try the tricky stuff - spinning, ollies, etc... oooohhh yeah. just be careful nothing sharp is around you if you happen to fall often. oh, and i would avoid consuming any consumably intoxicating substances while you balance. no bueno!
