LOL. sorry...been busy since school's back in session now. I go to villa alot cuz it's pretty much my "backyard." yea i know it sucks there. i went to fourlakes once went to cascade once..might go to alpine next weekend..hope there's snow since it's gonna be 40's this weekend! and i'm gonna try out raging buffalo the 25th. kinda scared to though. i hear it's intimidating there for newbies

bringing back a very old thread, im from IL. i mostly ride at 4 lakes considering i am only 20 minutes from there. its pretty sick because you can hit one rail like 200 times in a day haha. i go to cascade every once in a while but its pretty far, and expensive too.

yo yo, I do what I can here in the mid-west. I live in rockford so, I usually hit up raging buffalo snowboard park once or twice a week or maybe chestnut. Or I go to wisconsin and hit up Tyrol Basin, Cascade, or Devils-Head. -=T9W=-™

chicago right here! Villa, Raging. and Devils head but the best **** is just planing trips out to Colorodo or any where not near chicago lol. **** join a chicago Ski club they go on trips all over the place for cheap thats your best bet. just do an online seach for ski groups in IL and you will get a bunch. I'm joing snow golphers this year.

Hey seasons almost here again...any of you planning on getting season passes anywhere? I dont wanna drive too far but all the ones here locally kinda suck (villa, 4 lakes). i was thinkin of grand geneva or alpine valley since they're closer than cascade or devils head.
Elevation
08-31-2005, 02:12 AM
definitely dont get a season pass to 4 lakes, are you kidding that they expect you to pay like 350 for that place??? it doesnt suck if you like hitting jumps and rails. its fun because you can hit a ton of stuff in a little while. but i definitely wouldnt get a season pass there

im from orland park, but i live out in colorado and wyoming in the winters, but when i was home for christmas i rocked tyrol some, and a friend of mine paid for me to go with her to geneva. you can only hit the same jump so many times in a row.

Hah I go to villa, I got a seasons pass. That place is absolutely terrible, but my friends and I practically run that place, we're the ones who are there every day basically. We build all the jumps, we sneak the rails out of the maintenaince shack, we do everything.

For the drive & not to mention best conditions so far....Go to Indianhead in the UP. I know it's a 5-6 drive from anywhere in Illinois, but so worth it. I go up there almost every weekend. My bf lives in Wisconsin, so we take turns driving. We also get up at 3am on the road by 4am and on the snow by 9am. *sigh* but so worth it all.

i ride four lakes every weekend, somedays its rad other days it sucks snofest was pretty tight they had some good flo but most of the time this season it is just a box hand rail and 2 table tops. i still like it u can learn alot their. and if you get lucky they will have alot of jib out.
i hate raging, 4 lakes pretty much owns it
Tyrol basin if you wanna take a long ride then its well worth it , and just found ou t that ski brule is also really good alot of hits and a few rails not boxes though

If good you mean by 500'+ vertical drop, then no... but if good you mean by easy to very challengeing rails and a few BIG hits, but still enough for your little bro or sister to play on. Then yeah you'd be surprised what i pack in there.
I've got a few projects on the table right now... and as soon as i find the school bus i want... then the games will begain!! =D
Where is 4 lakes? I try and keep in contact with all the small midwest resorts... trade ideas / war stories, etc.

4 Lakes is in Lisle, IL. I live in Clarendon Hills, which is by Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Westmont, lagrange, Western Springs if you know any of those places. 4 Lakes is about 20 minutes from where I live. It is super small but they usually have like 2 good jumps and a bunch of fun rails. They have 3 rope tows and thats it, pretty simple.

Everything is a little small in the mid west. But hey, at least i have some hectic rails. That and the GM gave me another run to use to build my park and more $$ to build some crazier stuff. Snowstar isnt great, but i build my stuff big... just wish i had more room =(

Hm, I'm looking to go to a place that I can hit up 2-3 times a week. I always though Wilmot or Villa was closest to me, but after I discovered Four Lakes, it's only 20-30 minutes from my house, so it looks like that's where I'll be stopping.
I noticed all they have are tow ropes? What does their terrain park consist of? How many kickers do they have, tables, rails, etc? If any at all. Just curious! Cause I want to be working on my freestyle this year.

I'm going to be going all over the midwest with my guys this season... I'll have to get them to join the site. But we should do like the guy in NorCal and like meet up at different places and such to ride!
Obviously everyone cant go everywhere, but for some it would be an excuse to try somewhere new and have people to ride with and people to meet and ride with.

Even going down to "the nut" isnt too bad... they do have a lot more hill then me, but I will have some sick crazy jibbin' stuff they they wont. =) yeah they will have the bigger tables =( they've got more room and dedicated snowguns, but I will have bigger and crazier rails and boxes >=)
speaking of which i have to call those guys and see what they are up to this year.

We've got some sick rails and like one massive kicker (cause i'm the one that has to build it all) but tyrol has more hill to play with... along with pretty much everyone else. But hey, at least i still get 80+ days of riding a year, even living in the midwest.

No sh*t about the midwest. Totally blows. I'm really thinkin about moving to Portland or Salt Lake this winter.

Eh...it has its momments man... even when i worked for Vail Resorts. But now is the pushing snow and shoveling until 2am then having to be back at work at 6 am to get my instructors in line... oh yeah forgot the 30 min drive one way to get there and back home.
I wouldnt trade it for anything though... cause at least this way i know my park is up to my standard for what i have available.
Stop whining, every job has its moments. shure as hell better than working at culvers. but then again im only 15. :/ any job that pays to ride 80+ days a year in the midwest pretty much kicks serious ass.
snowstar is 300 miles away from me. :/ so I don't think I'll be able to make it down their anytime soon. minaswell just go up to Marquette.

i tihnk you have better luck in the midwest hittin up the streets and looking for rails rather than goin to a park. nothing better than a small roadtrip and hittin a nice 20 str set with your buddies. they are hard to find but once you find one they are golden
Im getting a season pass to alpine probably, wilmot is about 15 minutes from my house but its not exactly the greatest place to go.

man i wish my school had a ski and snowboard club. i would start one but im a senior already and it prolly would take like 2 years to get everything straightened out. damm high school. i would love to go up opening day but 2 things stop me. 1 - way too crowded. 2-they only have like 1/2 the mountain open up and for me i rather way till they have the whole park set up to take that big of an adventure
