yo,

ive been thinkin bout roadtrippin possibly flyin to Oregon to go ride timberline to makeup for some time I lost this season being injured.

So was wondering if anyone had any wisdom to share who's done it, locals from there?, and hopefully maybe even anyone down to ride with when I head up there in probably July or August sometime...

holla and thanks as always,

D

August will be crap up there its end of the season and usually its pretty craptacular.

Best time to go is now otherwise I hope you like riding nothing but park in July.

The earlier the better. They had a decent snow season up there, but its been getting warmer. July and August are going to be pretty warm, but its still snowboarding in the summer, which is pretty cool in my opinion. There isn't a lot to do in the Government Camp area, but Portland isn't far and is a pretty cool city. Mt. Hood was my home mountain before I moved away from college, its a pretty amazing place.

I also heard a rumor from someone that the summer camp kids get the parks to themselves up there, meaning if youre not in camp you can only ride the groomers...is that BS or no? Does anyone know for sure?

Then, I am debating on driving or flying...I think its about an 18 hour drive from here in Colorado...

Fearme you ever drove there from CO?

Holla,

D

PS fearme I am gettin rome targas for the new board!

Depends on the snow up there. HCSC, Windells, and MHSSC all have private camps. But on a bad year MHSSC will be using the public park because there isn't enough snow. The public park is ok and by OK I mean you can huck your meat into oblivion and pray you survive.

The drive from Steamboat to Hood is 2 days. 1 day to drive to Twin Falls Idaho then the second to get to Govy camp.

LOL.... Road trips are definitely CAR trips. i.e. on the road.

Hood closes for September and its really hit or miss on when its good or not. Typical NW conditions.

ya its usualy pretty good up there, and there is a public park but sometimes the camps use them. But otherwise, it's good. a bunch of pros go there in the summer to train, so that means it must be alright.

Train is the cheapest. Plus you'd get to go on the Great Northern Railroad which is awesome if you can catch it during day light.
