So how do I do it? Probably like a trip around Colorado or utah, do I have to spend like $2000?

So folks, show me how to keep the costs down!

Stay with a friend or relative, to save on lodging and meals.

Offer to write a column on your stay for your local paper, then let the resort know that you're doing so - often they'll comp you on lift tickets, sometimes even on hotels.

ya gotta eat right, so if ya wanna save some money on food at the end of the day near when the resort closes ask the food and beverage department for any food their about to throw away. ive done this before and most of the time, ill get a hamburger and fries, or some chilli or other left over food. Now about ur sleeping quarters. firstly before you go out and get a hotel, talk to some of the employees at the resort. for example, i worked at the summit at snoqualmie in washington, and instead of driving home every weekend, i would just bring a sleeping bag in my car and sleep in the cafe. i did this with my friends so we'd save gas money. just make friends with the employees and im sure ull be able to stay for free. now the worst that could happen is that youll have to sleep in the car, and eat ketchup soup for a week. thats my 2 cents.

for two weeks, you'll want to find somewhere better than a car to stay. Check with locals, and if this is for next year (duh...) then you should probably have plenty of time to find somewhere cheap.

As for food, you can make it through the WHOLE 2 WEEKS on about $15, but it wont be tasty. Go get two or three loaves of bread. A couple cans os peanut butter, and some of that sweet ass squeezable jelly (that stuff is the best thing since and for sliced bread) and you should be set.

Oh ****, I forgot water. Go buy those like 3 gallon dispensers that they make for camping trips. Put it out in the snow somewhere, and presto, cold water for really cheap.

Oh and this is what I am planning too. Since I was able to get my dad into boarding this season, I got him wanting to go on a trip. We are going to start planning out Utah trip for next season this next year..... (by that I mean school year, cause both my parents are teachers, and you thought you were broke...)

Where ever you plan on going, if you can't find a couch to crash on via friends of friends or something, look into hostels. They are all over the place and offer affordable places to stay as long as luxury isn't your thing.

maybe, at the moment I was thinking EconoLodge, cheap and ****ty, just how I like it.

Back to the whole 2 week trip thing, you biggest cost priority is paying for lift tickets for that long. I mean 14 days of straight riding (damn, you'd be tired) is going to cost a crapload.

yeah, 14 days is gunna be expensive. its probably even cheaper to just get a season pass to the resort.

I was thinking that a season pass would be cheaper too (at any place BUT Alyeska, where it takes 20 riding days to make it worth a season pass)

The pre season passes for Brighton (Utah) ski resort sell for 250 for a mid week. There are also many hotels that offer ski deals that include car, hotel, ski passes and food for 120/day. Try hostels as well. That is the cheapest route. www.skiutah.com has many deals they run and always changing.

If you're going by plane, get your tickets 4-6 months in advance and fly out on wed/thurs. Those are the least expensive days.

yeah fridays they jack up the price you can for sure get a cheaper ticket on wed/thurs and the most expensive part is obvisouly going to be lodging and that can be cut drasticly down by splitting it with some other people.

hostels are great, they're clean and cheap and you can meet some interesting people there. my mom and I once did a road trip staying at hostels and also backpacking through Europe for a month that way.

Try to find some odd jobs to do while there. You may have to waste away an afternoon, but you could make some extra cash that'll get you more food and other stuff you'll need.

yeh when i was planning my eurotrip (didnt happen)...i was looking at hostels online and they ranged anywhere from 15-50 euro a night...its usually pretty cheap to eat and drink there...i picked up a 750ml bottle of wine for 1euro and street sandwiches are something around 2...like hotdog vendor style sandwiches...not some bum trying to peddle you sandwiches...and gelato man...if you go to rome there are endless gelato stands (i suppose at this point i should mention i DID get to go to europe but it was a separate occasion and with family)...a big ol fat bottle of heineken is something like 3 or 4euro and you can drink it on the street....i remember cracking mine open and feeling really nervous that a cop was going to bust me for open liquor..if you want to go there on a budget you just have to learn to live cheap for a couple of weeks...no biggie..a buddy of mine is currently travelling in south america and said hes doing well on a $20/day budget...also another friend of mine said in indonesia you can live large for REALLY cheap...i suppose the airfare would be alittle wild though...also in europe(well italy and tunisia..yeh yeh i know tunisia is in africa) cab drivers seem to have little to no scruples when it comes to turning a quick buck with tourists...we were about to climb into a cab to go a block away and of course not being roman citizens and not knowing the lay of the land we trusted the cabbie to just take us where we wanted to go straight up...a person yelled to us to just take the bus cause the cab drivers tend to rip you off (we were quoted a price something like 30euros)...and the cabbie flipped the lady the bird and told her to mind her f*cking business...
