I wear Nike Free 5.0s unless I'm running more than 4 miles in which case I wear Nike Pegasus. I also have a pair of Salomon Gore-Tex badboys for when I'm running through muck.

I got a pair of Nike cross trainers. No real specific model, just your basic cross trainer. I've had them for about 4 years and they're still working good. Still comfy and don't have too much wear on them, and I use them quite often.

someone a while back said you can go to shops and actually have your feet measured for the perfect running shoe. he had it done and was blown away by how good his new trainers were.

Yeah, there's some places that do that, and actually form the padding in the shoe specifically for your foot.

my captain, hes been a runner his whole life, and he said nike shox were no good, and pretty much all shoes with that design in the back(the shox part)

This would yield the best results by far. Comfort and support is typically the most important in running, kind of like with snowboard boots. You'll have to actually find stores that runners go to. Stores like Sports Authority and whatnot will have no idea what they're talking about.
If you don't go that route, check out New Balance. A lot of people who run like these shoes.

shox are only good if your a heavier person, most the time shoes with shox/or something like that are too stiff. asics and all other brands make a good trainer shoe, just ask

Bah, who needs shoes? Just go running barefooted. I mean, no real man ever needed shoes. Shoes are for p*ssies. I don't even ride in boots. I just nail my feet down to the board, like Jesus would have done.
I think that Jesus line was on this site somewhere else. So whoever posted that originally, sorry, not trying to steal your thunder.

You need to do a better job of convincing her...those cheap pieces of poo are not going to do her any good. And, Wal-mart is bad for the environment so be glad you don't have one near you.

yep so i've ran cross country for a long ass time now and here's my rundown of whats been said, nike = mostly crap, nike shox especially but there are some decent nikes that will last a decent amount of time, reboks are not good running shoes, addidas running shoes will feel really comfortable for a couple weeks then **** out on you like none other and last no where's near what you payed for, mizuno are amazing last a long but i've only heard this from my running buddies that wear them, never worn em myself, and I wear asics, a good shoe and will last you a long time but make sure you find one that is perfectly comfortable, or else like all shoes that are uncomfortable, you will get blisters and thats all I have to say about that

I got the Nike + shoes. Where you put in your little transponder and hook the reciever into your ipod and it tells you how far youve ran, and keeps track of all that neat stuff.

I run marathons and... when getting shoes you really need to think about your distance. If you're running over 3 miles you need shoes designed for that and your foot. Your best bet is to find a shop that can tell you if you under or over pronate. Trust me it happened to me. I overpronate and have flat feet and ran my first Chicago Marathon two years ago. I didn't get my feet fitted and ran it in a pair of nike's that i picked up at sport authority. You don't want to start distance running and develop arthritis in your feet. You're riding season will come to a quick end.
Find a running shop in your general area. They will watch you run. They should let you know if you under or overpronate and check to see how the fit is. Some times they will have your walk in a sand box to see how deep of an arch you have. It's really alot like getting fitted for snowboard boots but you'll know if the sales rep knows what s/he is talking about.

Has anyone tried those shoes by Nike that they advertise that you do not have to wear socks, you just go bare footed in the shoes?

I went to a running specific store to get a good pair of running shoes and I was fit for Nike Air Pegasus, which I highly reccomend by the way. I asked the guy helping me about Nike Shox, and boy, did he have something to say about those. They're not really ment for running. They're running inspired. Yeah, they look sweet and you can design your own etc, but they lack the padding for your metatarsal and heels, to be specific. He doesn't stock them because of it.
