The time is upon us and Old Man Winter has smiled upon Boreal Mountain Resort. Under sunny skies, opening day at Boreal saw a busy ticket window of anxious skiers and snowboarders awaiting their first chance to shred the only resort in Tahoe to open this season. A local snowboarder standing in the lift line summed up what was on everyone’s mind, “Thank goodness. It’s been a long 5 months.” The lift line kept moving thanks to the new Castle Peak Quad chair in operation for the first time this season, taking rider’s 450ft higher on the beginning slopes where rider’s could choose to cruise the hill or hit up the 10 features built in the terrain park.

Alongside the public brought a slew of news crews, media, and Pro Shredder’s. Local legend and Pro rider Andy Finch had this to say, “Sunny and sick! Boreal stepped it up its (terrain) features with a full stair feature followed by a C box then S box. It’s how Tahoe is supposed to be.” With so much buzz in the air, everyone had something to add about opening day.

• Chas Guldemond: “ Nice weather, nice new outfit, good jibs, fun times.”
• Brett Butcher: “Best Boreal opening day ever! Yeehaaaaaaa!” (insert cowboy hat)
• Nick Visconti: “Welcome to the danger zone.”
• Lane Knaack: “ It’s sweet to finally be able to snowboard again on such a beautiful day.”
• Tim Eddy: “Today is the best day ever made.”
• Jason Badgley: “I wanna give Jon Slaughter a hug.”

Many thanks to all the Boreal staff and park crew for an awesome opening day. Here’s to a great start to an epic season at the new, better Boreal. College students, come ride Boreal on Frekin' Fridays for only $20!

Escape the couch. Escape to Boreal, located off Interstate 80 atop Donner Summit, just 90 minutes from Sacramento, 35 minutes from Reno and only 8 miles from Truckee, escaping has never been easier. Plus, with Boreal’s new quad chair and enhanced snowmaking capabilities, the mountain is better than ever. Boreal Mountain Resort offsets 100 percent of its electricity by purchasing green power.
We're picking it up tomorrow, then I'm off to learn new adventures!
I dont have any gear, so I'll be wearing my snowmachine (snowmobile for you non-ak people) helmet. Its also supposed to be kind of snowy-rainy this weekend, and I dont have good rain pants, so I'm figuring I'll wear a pair of my old snowboard pants. Maybe I'll wear my SBA hoodie too.....
